That is what Saturdays are for. Whoever invented St.Patrick's day and the theme of drinking on that day clearly did so in an inebriated state. Just make it the 3rd Friday of March and nobody has to worry about missing work the next day.
You've clearly never been to Ireland before.
Nobody is worried about missing work the next day. Most Irish people would look at you strangely and ask: "Wor---k?"

If you thought this season would have a happy ending, you haven't been paying attention.
I woke up, had some Lucky Charms, and put on my Republic of Ireland Soccer jersey. I'll be listening to the Pogues and the Waterboys all day at work. Tonight - green beer.
Who wants to have a pint in Kensington?
yeah i think it stems from all the people i know that are like 2% irish (something like their greatgrandmothers cousins best friend was irish) and then on st patty's day they all of a sudden act like they were born in dublin or something. then i have to hear about how they can drink so much and not get a hangover because they are irish and can handle it.
at least with holidays like christmas and american thanksgiving, there's still some people that know and try to continue the initial meaning of the holiday. unfortunately with st patties day, i have never met someone who knows a thing about the real st. patrick or really knows anything about the holiday except they are supposed to get drunk and wear green.

Sort of like how everyone seems to become Christian on Christmas? Now-a-days all people do is get drunk and give gifts. Why do we need a holiday to do that? Christmas is pure amateur hour!
Nothing green to wear. I intend of having a vodka mix drink when I get home today to celebrate.

Normally i take the afternoon off work and drink all day and night, at least for the last five years that's what i've done. But this year I'm got a whore of a cold that I have to get rid of. It hurts me to say i will not be drinking this st. patty's.

don't get me started on how much i hate christmas!!!!
but at least there is some semblance of a holiday for that.
for instance, when i was a kid, public schools in illinois would have a day off for Pulaski Day. basically no one knew who he was or why the day was off. well come to find out he was a pretty important person in the revolutionary war for america. and since there's a ton of polish people in chicago, they managed to make it a statewide holiday. so then you had all of us downstate kids who had no idea what it was and just wanted a free holiday. if you asked 10 people, at least 9 (if not all 10) would have no idea what the holiday was for!
at least with christmas pretty much everyone knows the whole birth of jesus aspect, and lots of religious people still do celebrate it as an important day. the rest of us rubes just enjoy the capitalistic angle of it all!
but similar to pulaski day around here, i am sure if you asked 10 people why we celebrate st patricks day, most wouldn't know. if anything you would probably just get the story about how he rid ireland of snakes.

Dobbles you are hilarious. Is there anything you like? Pretty sure anything ever talked about on this board and you seem to hate it. And yet when other posters call you out you take it all in stride. Like you sig or when someone said they wanted you to leave with QC being gone and you replied something like "Never!!".
