On the plane thing, I've seen it in a half dozen different sources including an interview with the pilot who inspected the plane after he couldn't take off.
They being every ally really hated Charlie boy and thought that he was doing more harm then good in the liberation of France and the D-Day invasion.
In short, he gets way to much credit for leading the french resistance.
