Anybody else get annoyed how fast CP kicks you out of the site...
.... and you have to log in again?
I open up CP while I'm at work. Numerous times I have tried to make a post (usually a fairly detailed one that takes a bit of time) and by the time I've hit the submit button the site tells me that I have to log in (and here I was thinking I was logged in already). This is really annoying... especially when I've taken the time to post a fairly detailed response or OP...
Now, since this has happened so often, I ALWAYS highlight and copy my post before hitting the submit button (just like I'm going to do now).
Frankly, its a real pita. Anybody else annoyed with this or is it just me?
Just copy it onto the clipboard if you dilly dally. I always jsut check the remember me box so it auto logins. You may have your cookies deleted automatically on your work machine. If thats the case it wont remember you.
I have been logged onto CP for like 5 months on my home computer. My cookies have never disappeared and the site has never kicked me out! What's even crazier is I left a job like 2 years ago with the browser logged into CP. I went back last fall and went to CP and it's still logged in!!!
I use Opera on both. Nobody knew that I had Opera installed on that computer so they never touched it and the peons used IE on that computer while I was away.

Sometimes i get kicked out while making a post and get the message to sign in again. I sign in and voila my post is still there to be posted
Hm, could be a proxy, not sure how that would affect things. It's set pretty low for more security.
Personally I leave mine logged in, but I have a habit of locking my computer any time I'm away from it, even if it's only for a minute. A good habit to get into IMO.

I have to do it because there is a nasty chain of computer pranks that get pulled in our office. Being one of the smarter people I've gotten others pretty bad, so I'm a target. They haven't gotten me yet.

Stang's right. You have to click 'remember me' and log out when you're done. I was po'd about this when I was using internet cafes in europe. I'd never click 'remember me' because I thought it really meant that it'd remember me and that the next guy could theoretically log in to my account and post some tree hugging hippy crap.
If you log in without hitting 'remember me' and then surf, you're fine. As soon as you're dormant for ~10 minutes, it automatically logs you out. That 10 minutes could be the time it takes to write out a long post.
Trust me, click the 'remember me' box when logging in and then actually log out before closing the browser. You'll never be automatically logged out while online and nobody can get into your account afterward. Unless there's a password remembering option on, but in that case, it'd ask you if you want it to remember your password, to which you'd give a resounding NO.

Yup, this is exactly why. Goatse was the best possible scenario usually.
I think I forgot once but came back before they got anywhere.
Another guy had his computer set to screensave and lock very fast, and he usually locked it. It took me like 3 weeks to finally get access, and it was only because we guessed his screen saver password!
So I set his screen saver timeout to 0.1 seconds (I found a program that would do this), and put that program in his startup.
