I remember one day in school while I was in elementary we were locked inside because someone reported a cougar citing. Turned out to be a fat house cat.

Do you mean Harry at the one by the Husky? That guy knows everything!!! I would sit and talk with him for hours when I lived in Canyon Meadows!
I would take what he says as gospel and would let him stitch me up if I ripped my lip open!

I didn't think Alberta had bobcats. I knew we had lynx and cougars. Could it have been a lynx, they look somewhat similar?

I suspect that DESS will welcome our new bobcat overlords. After all, they'll support his ban on dogs.

Oh there are definitely bobcats in alberta, you just don't see them much because they don't like to be seen.

Alberta Parks and Wildlife biologist Melanie Percy who told more than 60 children and adults on Thursday the good news about their animal tracking research.
Backed by photos of tracking routes, goals and objectives and remote camera shots that captured animals minding their own business far from humans, she explained the tracking study has found no wolves but more bobcats and fox in the Bow Valley than five years ago, even a rare skunk and, in April, a wolverine .

A bobcat won't attack a dog? Too bad, dogs really need to be taken down a peg.

Seems odd that if this was in the paper it wouldn't get discussed here at some point.

Bobcats are less dangerous than coyotes, and are more threatened to boot. I don't mind seeing coyotes, and I would love to see a Bobcat. If it really was in the city, you should be pleased, not scared. The reason they aren't seen in the city much is because they are far more scared of you than you should be of them.

Awesome. We definitely need more bobcats in the city. In particular, the Parkdale area. That place is overrun by giant rabbits. One of them got trapped in one of the basements of my constructions sites and it took me two days to figure out how to get him out (without using a 2x4 or an air rifle). I had to build the guy a ramp to climb out the window because he was too scared to go back the way he assumably came in, using the stairs.
I, for one, welcome our new bobcat neighbours.

Fear of Bobcats ... another example of the pansification of society. I'd be more afraid of the neighbour kid who just got his/her driver's licence than a Bobcat.

A voice of reason.
Those who are concerned, head to your local zoo and take a look at the little bobcat. Beautiful creature.
