I must admit I love buying games for my kids that I really want to play. This game I have been very much looking forward to. It includes ship battles which is cool. Playing Rome : Total War the ship battles were just random. I played RTW till I had taken every city(not just the 50 you needed) and with at least three different groups --two Roman factions and the Carthaginians.

Looks like this one will be even more fun!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

i tried to get into Rome Total War because the concept looked really cool, but there was too much micromanagement for my liking. didn't like how many things i had to keep track of at once

Rome: Total War is probably my favorite game of all time...unfortunately Medieval 2: Total War did not live up to RTW. Not even close. I'm hoping this new one is as good as Rome, because if it is I'll have a LOT of gaming to do!

Just been fooling around so far doing custom battles. Lined up as many cannon units as possible and had them up against cavalry. The wreak havoc with intial blast but then get over run. Going to try and start up the campaign tonight.

RTW is one of my favorite games. I always find a reason to play it over again - so fun. Shogun was great to but mechanics were rusty comparatively.
