Transfer recordings from Bell 9200 to 9242?

My old Bell 9200 HDPVR is rented, and I've purchased a new 9242.

Is it possible to transfer recordings from the 9200 HDPVR to the new 9242? Can I somehow use an external drive?

I have a recorded calibration segment from the launch of CBC-HD that is invaluable for setting the TV for the satellite input. I would hate to lose it.

The only way I can transfer stuff is by playing it and recording it on my DVD recorder. I assume a video capture card would work as well.

Hauppage has a video capture card that can do HD through component and I've heard that maybe you can do it with Linux also.

I just found this post which may make it possible to transfer your 9200 HD to your computer.

Read about questions re taking off backups fron ext hd via computer. Linux have a free sofgware that operates in windows and will allow you to access the files on the ext hd. http://www.diskinternals.com/download.shtml

I will have to give that a try.

In general, its been a bit of a PITA going to the 9242. The self-serve activate didnt work, so I had to spend 20 minutes on the phone with Bell ... at least they got it right the first try (for a change).
