i don't think the kid is anyone we already know, since without Sawyers interference he would have never been born (both in saving the mother and getting Juliette to deliver)

I think it's one of those things are meant to happen time travel deals though... where things happen regardless of interference, and any intereference was meant to happen so you can't change anything.

Hence Daniel telling the red headed girl as a child not to come back to the island. Even though he hadn't travelled there yet.... Time travel is annoying.

Faraday's mom is the old woman in the church who is also the blonde chick back in the mid 50's.

yep, very possible it was merely to show that at one point babies could be born on the island.

Perhaps it was one of the original survivors of Oceanic Flight 815? I mean even if it is someone important it's not like a newly born will remember who was there when he was born.

Maybe it's Richard?

There are some crazy theories out there, that it's a statue of Richard Alpert. His initials are RA, which is a name of Egyptian god.

More important question to me is that where was Daniel in 1997? They showed Sawyer, Juliet, Jin, even Miles was on screen for a moment; there has to be a significance in the fact that Daniel was not shown living with Dharma Initiative at that time.

This is so true again this year so they must be doing a very good job. I like the fact you can watch the previous episode before watching the new one. Daniel was probably sent off the island after he terroized young charlotte trying to make her leave the island
