Default CDN Soldiers Salute Dutch Boy

Just had this video emailed to me:

http://www.liveleak.com/view?i=622_1236062375

Pretty high compliment to give the eyes right to a kid, but the little guy was well deserving.

Kudos to our soldiers

In what way was he well deserving? I couldn't find anywhere that said what he did besides salute them.

Regardless, it was a cute video but it would be neat to know why they honoured him.

Nevermind. There was a bit of background in Worth's link:
Randall-Benjamin, 4 years old, saluting the canadian contingent at the Hoofdplaat-Knokke memorial March November 4th 2007.

Randall-Benjamin is wearing a replica uniform, made by his mom, as worn by the Canadian Scottish regiment during WW2.
That's cool.

Thats just awesome. My grandparents went to Holland for the 50th Anniversary of the liberation of Holland and my grandfather was moved to tears by the way the Dutch people treated them. Thats really nice to see them give that little guy such an honour.

I can count on one hand the number of times we rendered honors like that.

Very cool video, I got a little misty.

Do you think the kid knew what it meant? Because I sure didn't. I wasn't aware of the prestigiousness of such.

Probably not, but he probably got the thrill from the salute back.

Are you that ill informed that you do know have any knowledge of Canad's liberation of Holland in World War Two? Canada is still veiwed with love in Holland. In fact every dutch soldier met was very excited to meet a Canadian Soldier, and was always very kind and helpful (read free Heineken).

I absolutely think he know what was going on.......Holland's memory is long, especially when it comes to Canada.....while he may not have known the significance of the response his actions were planned and geniune IMO
