If anyone ever wants some fun, listen to a Pats' radio broadcast against the Hitmen. Every call is apparently part of a larger conspiracy of the WHL in favour of the Hitmen simply because the WHL offices are in Calgary. Every call that went against the Pats was met with confusion and shock that such a thing could ever happen, even going as far as a comment along the lines of "stop trying to find it, there was no penalty, their making things up again".

Apparently the Hitmen get away with everything in every game, always receiving the benefit of biased officiating, and that's why they win. One would even be led to believe the shot tallies are manipulated to make the Hitmen appear better, ignoring opponent shots and over crediting the Hitmen. Listening to them makes NHL broadcasters like the Ducks' tv crew seem unbiased.

I always thought Ken Thrower was a big homer when compared to Curle, but I guess he's better than some.

If by some chance Ryley Grantham and Alex Plante fight on Saturday, which player should I cheer for? This is a bit of a moral dilemma.

theres no way plante fights grantham, and if he does all he does is hang on for dear life kinda like another oiler i know of named "huggy the bear". Good chance you will see a Grantham vs Burgart round 2 though. Both these guys are at the top of the league in fighting majors. Burgart gives up 5 inches but has an extra 10 lbs i beleive. Either way its 2 tough kids. Should be a great game saturday night and hopefully we can pack the dome for the final regular season home game!!

GO HITMEN GO!

I would be very surprised if there was less than 17,000 announced for the last game. People will be using up their unused tickets.

Hitmen have announced over 15,000 sold for tomorrow's game already. Any STH with extra unused tickets might want to exchange them in the morning...

^^ Don't let the fact that Kelowna lost to Red Deer tonight fool you, the Rockets are VERY good. Only question mark is between the pipes, but they can outscore just about anybody with 3 solid lines.

EDIT: might I add how pleased I am to see the attendance in Kootenay being up so much since the new lease deal was announced. Over 4,000 tonight, 3,700+ on Wednesday, not bad for a town of 18k!

Have an extra ticket, maybe two for tonights game...if there's anyone interested not already going.

It is weird, hoping to see Backlund and Grantham do well...but also wanting the Hitmen to win.

Singles only in the lower bowls... Wonder if we top 19,000 tonight?

Rockets knock off Hitmen 2-1. Well the winning streak is over, and the Hitmen only win 32 games at home this season. The Rockets are a physical team and Mark Guggenberger stole this game for the Rockets. Kozun's 16 game point also comes to an end. 5 games over the next or so to wrap up the season.

Jamie Benn in particular seems to be a really dirty player - I hate when people talk about "grit" when it really means that the player tries to hit you with his stick or punch you when the ref's back is turned.

16,690 fans saw what was by far the worst hockey game I've seen in Calgary in years. And 100% of the blame for that lies with the Dome facilities crew. The ice tonight was the worst I have ever seen it. Not a shred of exaggeration. The state of the playing surface would have been embarrassing a junior B rink in Arizona, never mind an NHL facility. Both teams looked like crap as a result. The puck was constantly rolling, bouncing over sticks of both teams, neither team could pass well, neither could shoot well. Just utterly destroyed what could have been a good game.

Since neither team could get going, I really can't say that either team deserved to win, or either team deserved to lose. Kelowna won because someone had to, and their goalie did play a great game, although I don't think he was really tested anywhere near as much as the shot clock would suggest.

Good thing Backlund took those two penalties, otherwise he would have been completely invisible.

^^ tough luck guys. Not gonna lie, when the Rockets were here last week, Backlund wasn't too visible except for when Cody Almond pounced on a turnover and he finished it.

Benn must have taken over for Lucas Bloodoff in the dirty category?

At the same time though, he is a PPG player. It isn't all that surprising, I suppose, that he wouldn't look good in front of the league's two best teams. Not very many players do.

Few games on TV this week:

Moose Jaw @ Medicine Hat tonight on Shaw (7 MT).

Tri-City @ Vancouver tomorrow on Sportsnet. We'll see if Pickard plays after the incident against the Chiefs over the weekend. The Ams also boast WHL player of the week AND month Mitch "Don't Leave Me Out Too Long In The Sun" Fadden.

Friday: Giants are hosting somebody, can't remember who exactly. On Shaw at 8:30 MT.

EDIT: Jon Blum is expected back for the Calgary game on Friday, Bouma will still be out. Giants are looking a bit less frantic in their own zone since the embarrassment against Kelowna, wasn't much of a contest after the first period Sunday afternoon in Chilliwack. Should be a big crowd, the Giants are celebrating their "2 Millionth Fan" apparently..

7-0 Hitmen last night over PG. Jones' 8th shutout, and Broda scored his 50th of the season.

Not a good start for the Hitmen tonight. Down 2-0 after 20 in Kamloops, the Blazers really taking it physically to the Hitmen.

UGLY! The worst game of the year by far. 5-1 Blazers. Nothing at all happening for the Hitmen tonight, the Blazers were better in all areas. Hitmen have a day off tomorrow and bus ride to Vancouver before the big rematch.

Giants beat the Ams 6-2, yawn. Really couldn't get into the game, I think because I wasn't used to the Sportsnet TV timeouts in that setting. Doesn't help that they really don't have much for filler during the non-intermission breaks.

REALLY looking forward to Friday. They announced the Kamloops score in the building tonight and the place went nuts.
