For anyone here who wants to watch Backlund play in Calgary, here's a good chance to do so while helping a worthy non-profit organization at the same time:
"The John Petropoulos Memorial Fund is teaming up with the Calgary Hitmen again for another night of fun and exciting hockey action. The Hitmen will host the
Kelowna Rockets at the
Pengrowth Saddledome on
Saturday, Feb. 28th at 7 pm. The JPMF has purchased a block of tickets in Section 225 at a discounted rate and the proceeds raised from the event will go towards the Memorial Fund’s safety initiatives.
The game, which takes place during Fan Appreciation Night, will see Hitmen forward Brett Sonne square off against Jamie Benn of the Rockets. The two were teammates on Canada’s gold-medal-winning junior hockey team in Ottawa. Calgary Flames prospect
Mikael Backlund, a first-round pick in 2007, will also lace up the skates for Kelowna.
