Great idea guys.

Any Edmonton based CPers want to do a summer weekly golf game?
I go to Goose Hummock all the time.

Maybe we could get a sub-forum called Golf, in the Buy and Sell section???

That way if someone has a tee-time booked and they have spots open, they can post the day and time and where it is... and people can call dibs on the openings by posting and pm'ing.

I'll tell you... having a permanent Golf section that I and others maybe able to find a tee-time to play with a fellow member here, certainly would get me to log into CP more often during the off-season, than I do now.

Edit: We now have a CP social group for all us golfers... where we can post our tee-times and how many open spots we have

I know that feeling. This had better be the last of it as I'm very much ready to move on. I was cleaning out the utility room last night and there was my golf clubs just calling to me. I spoke back( I know there will be those all over me for responding to the golfing gods) and it was hardly the first time I've spoken to my golf clubs or various makes of golf balls.

I give them human qualties, encouragement, huck them down the fairway, beg them, boot them into the forest, yell at them etc.

One sweet shot right down the middle curling in and rolling up just short of the flag. Follow with bold yet controlled putt and life is very, very good.

My golf bag is calling to me and this stinkin dufus winter is attempting to drown out that voice!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Last year at this time we had practically no snow on the ground. I also played my first game on the 15th of April.

The way this winter is going it could be a late start to the golf season.

I'm sure we will be able to add to my list of golf stories. Two of my favorites happened on the same day down in High River. First one my buddy Phil puts his ball down on the tee and announces that he is finally going to rip one. The tee features a line of trees on both sides(or did when this took place) and it's a fairly narrow driving area. He promptly winds up and hammers the ball which takes off straight right, hits a tree, goes across the tee box, hits another tree and came screaming right back at us. Two George W. Bush like ducks and we were able to roll on the ground laughing.

Not more than a couple of holes later we are sitting way up the fairway from Phil who has duffed a couple into the trees. He pulls out the three wood and is getting ready to hit. My other friend says there is no way he can reach us. I replied "Let's stand behind the cart just in case". No sooner said than he hits a reeker and nails the side of the cart. I can't tell you how hard it is to hit a shot when you can't stop laughing!!!!!!!!!!!!

My claim to fame is the hole in one i got on the 28th of June 1994. The 17th hole - par 3 - of the Douglasdale golf course. Ball hit the cart path, bounced onto the green and rolled into the hole

The only downside was the $200 bar tab i got afterwards. My friends, my dad and all his buddies drank a heck of a lot of beers and shooters that night

I think this was last year. I was playing at Douglasdale with a few friends and we get to a hole (can't remember the number) that is lined with houses but is quite long (400 yrds ish). One of my friends, which happens to frequent CP but will remain anonymous, has a problem with pushing the ball to the right when using his driver however decides to pull out the old R5 driver. Upon lining up his shot he mutters "watch where it goes ok" then swings the club and crushes the ball. As the ball drifts harder and harder to the right all you can hear is him saying no... no... no, as we watches the ball head straight for a house. Luckily the ball ended up hitting the roof and just making more of a loud smack than anything.

Now, fast forward to about 3 rounds later... same hole, same people... out comes the R5 yet again. Being the nice guy I am I bring up what happend the last time we were at this hole. We obviously all have a good laugh. Once again... he smashes the ball. Once again... it drifts to the right. Once again... he cries no, no, no. Once again he nails the exact same house.

This is a golfing memory that I think many of us duffers share -- that's one ball you never bother looking for!!!!!!!!!!!

Actually, if I'm reading the ad right, it would end up costing $54.75 + $2.74 GST per person, cart included? One person would have to pay the green fee or $109.50 + GST ($5.48) and the other guy reimburses him $54.75 plus half the GST? Correct me if I'm wrong.

Sounds like a pretty good price to me... especially when you consider you get a cart.
