IMO, a PVR is a must have. I record EVERYTHING. The only things I watch live and in real time are sports and news casts (sometimes).
I record all other shows I watch and watch them later. Skipping the commercials is so great, and especially easy with the 'skip forward' and 'skip backwards' buttons that the Bell receivers have.
Skipping the commercials is a huge time saver. A typical 30 minute show has only 20-21 minutes of actual programming. A typical 60 minute show has only 41-42 minutes of programming. For every 2 hours of recorded shows I watch, I get to watch a third show for free (in the same time as someone watching 2 hours of shows without a PVR).
Another thing I use the PVR for is to record the Sportsnews shows. I record Sportcenter and SN Connected each day. Then once they are done airing, I watch the hockey segments in both, and skip through the basketball and other things I dont care about. I no longer have to get annoyed by how they spread out my desired content over 60 minutes and instead can 'watch' Sportscenter in about 20 minutes.

What are the differences between the new and old dishes?
Do people need to upgrade?

With the external drive on the 6141 can you pause and rewind TV?
If not, get a PVR. Everyone and I mean everyone says at the beginning "Oh, well right now I don't record anything so why would I need a PVR?" Well the quick answer is because THEY F'IN ROCK!!! It's not just about recording shows, it being able to pause and rewind. Plus never missing an epidose of your favroite program because you are out or watching the Flames game on the other channel.
IMHO you are wasting your money if you don't get the Dual Tuner HDPVR. You think you and your wife won't need it, but if you get it I bet she uses it more than you. There is nothing better than coming home whenever you want and never miss a show, ever!
Just my thoughts on it...

If you want HD you have to use the 20" dish, it is shaped differently and has the ability to "skew" (rotate) so you can pick up both satellites.
On a side note: it will be interesting to see if we need an upgrade once the 3rd satellite is up an running.

Apparently you can with either the 6141 or 6131.
Right now it appears the only advantage of the 9241 is that with the dual tuners, you can record one program while watching the other. The 9241 is $500 and the 6131 is $200 + for the external HD. For now I'd consider the 6131 especially if you go to retentions, threatening to quit, they'll give a $100 rebate.
Oh yeah, it seems only 3.5" 7200 external HDs will work. Maybe go to Digital Home Canada for more info.

But only single tuner correct?
I don't think I could live without the dual tuner portion of the PVR. There is nothing like Pausing one turner, while watching the other tuner. Then just flip back and forth when you catch up to commercials. This is how I live in the playoffs
I've never used the 9241, but own two 9200's and a 9242 and both are great receivers and they seem to be updating them all the time.
No matter what you choose you will be very happy with HD, but I can promise you, you will be kicking yourself if you don't get the PVR.

Yeah, I do that too with my 9242 but I don't think you can do that with the 9241 as there is no PiP or access to the other tuner except for recording. The 9241 also has no OTA tuner and only comes with one remote and it's IR while the 9242 has two remotes. One IR and one UHF. That's why people were scouring the stores across Canada looking for the 9242 when Bell stopped carrying them.
Oh yeah, the 6131 has only one tuner. I think the first "1" means one tuner and the second "1" means it operates one TV as in the 924 1.

This is why I am holding on to my 9200's for a bit, I know they are losing value just sitting there but if I get more TV's they are an awesome system for a spare TV in a bedroom or something. I may get rid of one to a friend but want to keep at least one for that true dual tuner reason.

Makes sense. Pretty sad I worked for Bell for 4+ years and never knew that
