There's just been a TV series on in the UK called Oz and James Drink to Britain, and they visited the UK's smallest commercial brewery.

Its a joke based around a popular CP meme. No hookers were harmed in the production of that post.

We all know Locke is possessed. Have a glass of scotch Locke and I'll send you my real phone # because I'm not with the 900 service you called any more. Are we about to get blamed for derailing another thread?

Oh probably, actually today has been my first day off in almost 3 weeks and my last day off for almost another 3 weeks so I started with the scotch at around 2:00.
I'm currently nursing a Chivas Regal...
As for thread derailage...whatever, when theres nothing constructive to add you might as well go destructive.
As for homemade beer goes though, sometimes you can get some pretty good stuff, years ago my dad used a U-Brew-It in Golden to make his own beer, it goes in large batches but it was actually pretty decent stuff. It was potent as all hell but pretty tasty, not bitter like you'd expect, but if you're looking for drinkability or standard tastes sticking with the commercial stuff is your best bet.

So I should just get a bunch of labels made up to stick on already made bottles of beer?
LOL...Mother Pucker's Traditional Ale.
Insert pic of old granny with hockey stick in one hand, beer in the other, and wearing a Flames jersey.

We had a long thread on this a while back...i think that thread must be on the old servers...
i made beer for years and had awesome results...truthfully it is all in the sterilization. as for the sediment...that is dead yeast cells and is required to provide natural fermentation in the bottle. Poured correctly, its not an issue...and the vitamin b helps with the hangover.
i used the kits that had the premixed wort...just like the wine comes. i don't think i could make it from the wort in the cans. too difficult.
i had to give it up because we moved and the new place just doesn't have the same facilities to make the beer...but i am working on finishing the basement and it will have an area to do this.
the best thing was using 2 or 3 litre pop bottles as you could get ripped well and truly with minimal effort to bottle or drink! hehheh

But how does it compare cost wise to buying from the store?

Beer doesn't make a lot of sense from a cost perspective. I did the math one time and it wound up being about $1/beer. At that price you may as well buy it at the liquor store.

Yup. The only reason to make beer is for a hobby. Not that that's not a good reason, but it's really the only valid one. I know of some guys who made their own wort even. That's kind of cool. I'd try that if I ever got back into it. I'd also keep my fridge stocked with some good micro brews though.
