Worst casting.....ummmm, Nick Stahl as John Connor is Terminator 3 comes to mind. Beyonce in that third Austin Powers movie as well. I have a bias because I hate everything about her, but christ, she made that movie un watchable for me. Also, Vin Diesel in anything is just bad casting.
|
Agree wholeheartedly with this.

Watch Batman Begins again, Katie was just dreadful.

Well I did say "unwatchable a second time" , but you're right, even that is a bit of an exaggeration because I did watch it a second time, lol. It was that second viewing that every time I saw her face I winced though. That movie just would have been sooooo much better, to me, had she not been cast as the "beautiful" lead female role.

I think Maggie has a classic beauty look to her. She certainly isn't anything offensive, and casting some incredibly hot woman as the assistant DA would have stretched believability. That casting worked well IMO. Maggie looked like the ambitious, righteous, college educated, character she was supposed to represent.
But yeah, pretty faces are what's really important when watching a movie...

As for worst casting, I agree with the post about the "villain" from the new Bond movie, QoS. I have seen flies more intimidating than him. Not to mention his face looks like a dirty wash cloth.
|
note to self...self? dont ever see a movie with 3 justin 3. we will kill each other. jim carey is brutal. to requote someone previously...i pretty much want to rip my eyeballs out and set my brain on fire the minute he comes on screen.
i will admit i do love julia roberts tho. i'll agree about cameron diaz and demi moore however.
as for bad casting....brad pitt in Troy. boooooourns.

Completely disagree. I think she looks half pig...some might call her Woman-Turtle-Pig (hmmm...doesn't quite have the same ring to it as Man-Bear-Pig).

I don't need the woman to be gorgeous, just someone who doesn't make me feel ill when I see their face. Seeing as we so clearly disagree on her looks though, I'm sure you don't fully understand what I mean. I honest to god think she's one of the ugliest women in hollywood so "classic beauty" is not a description I would choose to use.

Mis-cast perhaps. But then again i was actually able to sit through the movie and at least enjoy the bad performances. More than I can say about the book which was just painful to read. Dan Brown is just a horrible writer.

How true. As an English Major who has studied the mechanics of literature, it was almost impossible to read that steaming pile of crud. Possibly the worst book I've read in the last decade.

Yup I got 5 pages into that book and tossed it in my fireplace. What a waste of 35 bucks.

LOL. My wife forced me to join this book club and they wanted to read it, so we each bought a copy. I returned mine the next day and got my money back, then read the wife's. Can't believe I got burned by buying it twice....

Nope, hated it. Was all pumped to seei it, went first day, waited three hours to get in, hated every second of it. the whole movie just seemed really forced and akward to me.

I'm far from a literary snob. Heck most of my spare reading time is spent with fantasy and sci fi and much of that simple toss away novels, but Dan Brown has such a knack for using the worst, most awkard turn of phrase possible. Not unlike some of my posts on a message board! The difference being i don't pretend to be a writer. His novels are one step from a detailed outline. A poor first draft that he never got around to editing and critiquing every sentence and phrase. Well I'm guessing as I've never made it all the way through one of his books.
The only other book that I have read in the past 10 years that is close in suckiness is The Redemption of Althalus by Eddings. Their stuff is never close to literary greatness or anything but wow was that book bad.
