Very similar situation happened to a friend of mine. T
ried to change lanes, the other guy sped off so my friend "cut" the other driver off. This guy then proceeds to try and swerve my friend off the road while yelling at him. My friend had the mind to get on his phone and call 911 to tell them about the maniac trying to swerve him off the road and he was screaming so loud, the operator could hear him. Then the guy sped up, cut my friend off, slammed on his breaks (forcing my friend to stop as well), got out, opened my friends car door and punched him in the face. While he's still on the phone with the police. Luckily, when the guy drove away, he got his plate number.

Yeah, one time I was driving up Crowchild and there was this guy in this little red truck that was weaving in and out and trying to go fast, tailgating anyone in front of him regardless of lane, flashing his lights, etc etc.

I was in the second rightmost lane (the rightmost lane was exit to Memorial) and I wanted to get onto Memorial so I changed lanes.. about the same time this truck guy goes into that lane to try and speed past a few blocks worth of cars (anyone who's been in that area knows that the left lanes are backed up but that right lane stays empty because it goes onto Memorial).

Anyway, he finally catches up with me (I'm going at or just above the limit) and starts flashing his lights at me. I look at him in the rearview, shake my head, and keep doing what I'm doing.

Well rather than get back to continue down Crowchild, this guy follows me onto Memorial. When traffic allows, he pulls around me and I think great, this guy's gone. Nope, he pulls up beside me, leans over and rolls down his passenger side window, and starts yelling at me! My window was closed so I can't hear him, and I didn't even look at him but I had to laugh. Big mistake. Now he's just driving beside me and yelling more!

I use traffic and speed up a bit to put some distance between us, but he keeps changing lanes and cutting people off to try and get beside me again. Now I'm starting to worry. He keeps following me and right about the time I figure I shouldn't be going home and start thinking about calling the cops on my cell he finally gives up.

Not as severe as some here have experienced, but sure freaked me out.
He was trying to warn you that there was a crazy one armed hook handed axe carrying maniac in the backseat.

How do I know this?

I. . . was. . . that. . . maniac!!!

Did anything happen to the guy?

Two lane street (each direction), approaching an intersection outfitted with a third lane for left turns. There was consrtuctiuon in that lane, so everyone that wanted to turn left was doing it from the left -straight thru- lane. I was in the right lane going about 40 in the 50 zone because you never know when some dipshinguard will pull out of the stopped traffic and pin it. Also, I had a transmission in the cargo area of my truck and didn't want to have to slam the brakes.
Besides both of those reasons for my slowness, everyone was going that speed, I just happened to have three car lengths in front of me.

So up ahead I see this cherokee starting to stick his nose out. He has plenty of time to take the space, but waits until I'm right there to lunge forward. Out of sheer reaction, I swerved to the right & jumped the curb. He slammed on the brakes & I was going too fast to stop, so I just passed him with two wheels on the curb.

I was pretty ticked, but figured that he just made a mistake & who really cares.

The light turned red and I stopped. Dude was behind me flipping the bird and hanging out the window swearing as though it was my fault he lunged out in front of me.
I jumped out of my truck to see if he wanted to say those things to my face & he quickly rolled up the windows & locked the door.

I was pretty amused by this so I grabbed my drink (a large pop from some fast food joint) and chucked it at his windshield. Ka splat! So much for his clean ride...

I then got back in my truck & waited for the light to turn. He was sitting there looking out the side window avoiding eye contact.

As soon as the light turned, he blasted by me (left lane was turning, remember?) and shook his fist & flipped me off some more...

What a fataing geek...

Was the driver going that slow? I have had guys try to whip around a few cars and cut me off just to try and get a few cars ahead. One chick did that to me in a school zone when there was a line of us going the limit. The punch in the face idea is a good one. Thanks.

But I'll take you at your word and assume the guy was going ridiculously slow.
I drive a 5-ton delivery truck as my summer job. I know what slow is. He was going slow enough that I knew it was bets on the long run to pass him. As I was driving my personal vehicle, and it's a car, I coulnd't see around him to know that the traffic was built up. I got all the way around him and put on my blinker before he starts closing the space. So he closed it on purpose, but I went anyway.

Punch in the face is illegal. Regardless of a good idea or not.

Today I was driving home from work, and I couldn't see around this slow pickup truck pulling a trailer. So I went around him in the next lane. He hit the gas, and so I had to get in front of him otherwise the lane I was now in turned off. So I hit the gas and squeeked in.
Redvan, I just want to verify something:

If I'm not mistaken (correct me if I'm wrong), it sounds like he was in the middle lane towing a (potentially heavy) trailer. You passed him on the right hand side(?), and then cut in front of him because the lane you were in was ending?

If the above was actually the case, then you were in the wrong, and instigated the event. I sometimes pull a holiday trailer, and you wouldn't believe how many people are inconsiderate (and cut off) of an 11,000+ pound object moving at 100 kph in the right hand lane. It has given me a whole new perspective and respect for semi drivers.

However, there is no excuse for anyone getting out of their vehicle and proceeding to punch another motorist...

edit: I missed the part about him also acccelerating. [/b][/quote]
As I say, I drive a delivery truck that's huge, and heavy when loaded. I know what is safe and what is not safe. Along Anderson between Elbow Drive and 14th street is plenty of space to pass someone. It is a normal driving lane. In the city, there is not really such a thing as a passing lane unless on Deerfoot.

Point is, I drive a large vehicle and I know a kot of people don't have any idea about that capabilities it has. In my opinion, nothing I did was illegal. Wrong? No. Questionable? Maybe.

No, it was a lot of space. I am not 16 anymore haha. I am a young guy, so obviously I am more aggressive than say, a retiree... but I have cooled down in the last little while. Lots of space.
