Default Dollhouse - Renewed for 2nd Season!

The new Joss Whedon /Tim Minear shows starring Eliza Dushku.
Quote:
In Dollhouse, Eliza Dushku plays a young woman called Echo, a member of a group of people known as "Actives" or "Dolls." The Dolls have had their personalities wiped clean so they can be imprinted with any number of new personas, including memory, muscle memory, skills, and language, for different assignments. They're then hired out for particular jobs, crimes, fantasies, and occasional good deeds. On missions, Actives are monitored internally (and remotely) by Handlers. In between tasks, they are mind-wiped into a child-like state and live in a futuristic dormitory/laboratory, a hidden facility nicknamed "The Dollhouse". The story follows Echo, who begins, in her mind-wiped state, to become self-aware.

I watched the premiere last night.

I thought it was a bit spotty (apparently episode 2 was re-worked to make it the premier - holy Firefly flashback), but with enough potential that I will watch it again.

I really like the concept of the show, and I've always liked Eliza Dushku who was outstanding in her role as Faith in Buffy and Angel.

I was hoping for more action but I expect that we'll see some other more violent personalities as we saw near the end of the episode.

I hold out hope for this show because of that dress she was wearing in the opening.

I watched about two minutes of it, and shut it off. Even my crush on Eliza Dushku wasn't enough to keep me watching. I know I didn't give it a chance, but I'm trying to cut down on the TV I watch, not increase it.

It's looks like he's considering a grab. Would it be worth a stint in lockup overnight?

I think he could buy his way out of it.

That's Rupert Murdoch

Lol @ picture.

I haven't seen it yet, but sounds like the show didn't do so well.

That sounds like me except that I forgot to watch it. I'm not used to there being a show I want to watch on a Friday night.

Yet you get a totally differnt spin from this article:

Quote:
The mythological drama starring Eliza Dushku attracted 4.7 million viewers -- a pretty decent jump over the eyeball levels for The Sarah Connor Chronicles at 8 p.m. (which lured a mere 3.7 million), according to fast national ratings. In fact, Dollhouse helped Fox double its viewership levels among women versus Chronicles and helped the net finish in second place among adults 18-34 and in first place across key male demos for the night.
http://hollywoodinsider.ew.com/2009/...use-attra.html

The deja vous between this and Firefly is strong.
Joss Whedon - check
Fox - check
Network "requests" changes to premiere - check
Scheduled in Friday 9pm (EST) "timeslot of death" - check

Probably means it is due to be dicked around on the schedule, cancelled without showing all its already recorded episodes, then become a huge hit on DVD.

Yup.

Which reminds me, I should hook my PS3 back up so I can finish watching Firefly on bluray that my wife got me for Christmas.

I did watch it--I'm a huge Joss Whedon fan, and I can forgive a slow start as the premise gets explored a little. Overall, not fantastic, but worth a longer look. And Eliza Dushku.... well, let's just say she's always worth a longer look!

Well this thread made me finish watching Firefly tonight and now I'm very angry because Firefly isn't on TV with new episodes.. it was just starting to get into its groove.

Maybe Dollhouse will replace it, I'll have to watch it now.

Honestly, I cant think of very many shows that came blazing out of the gates, especially in this genre. I haven't watched it, and don't even have cable. But I might have to find it on a place of ... ahem... questionable legality to check it out.

I'm a hugely devoted Joss Whedon fan. I've watched all of Buffy, Angel, Firefly, Serenity (the Firefly movie), read his comic books, you name it. I loved Dollhouse and think the premise is good enough to build a solid show around (but the same can be said for Firefly, sigh). Plus Eliza Dushku; I could watch her reading the newspaper without complaint.... yum.

I thought it was an OK premiere and similar to other Whedon fans I'll give it some time (until it gets canceled within a month that is).

It's a pretty good cast...of course you have Dushku but a lot of other "oh that guy" type actors. You've got the "guy from Homicide and Journeyman", "the guy from E.R.", "the gal from Rushmore", and "the gal from Angel", and "the guy from Battlestar".
