Am I the only one who expected him to puke right at the end there?

Toronto child psychiatrist Marshall Korenblum says he's appalled by the David video because of both the current and potential effects on David's mental well-being.

"It's humiliating. You're showing the kid when he's impaired," he says. "So we've captured this kid at a vulnerable moment, when he's clearly anxious, frightened and confused. And the father has not done a lot to reassure him."

And Dr. Korenblum says episodes involving a child that are considered funny can easily come back to haunt an adolescent - especially in the form of cyber-bullying.

"This now has the potential to be replayed over and over again at different points in his life," he says. "Why would you inflict this on your child?"

I can understand the entertainment of this clip... but I would never grab a camera and film my son in this state, and say things like "feels good doesn't it"?

If you would... that's cool. It's just something I found a little disturbing with it.

Anyone read this tragic story?

Quote:
An eight-year-old girl starved to death at home because she refused to open her mouth after a dental operation, an inquest heard.
Sophie Waller, from St Dennis, Cornwall, was so afraid of dentists she was sent to the Royal Cornwall Hospital to have her milk teeth taken out.
Afterwards, she would not open her mouth and was given a feeding tube.

Who would listen to some person who's never seen your kid when they tell you that sucking on watermelon is enough food??

I don't have kids but if mine hadn't eaten for three weeks I would'nt be at home calling people. I'd be at the hospital demanding treatment.

I mean, I'm sure the hospitals are at fault as well...but still...What kind of parents wouldn't go to the end of the world to save their children??

The epitome of this over-counseled age we live in. Like everything anyone ever does has some kind of lasting effects or underlying meaning. It's funny. It's just simply funny. A kid acting like a drunk or stoned adult. Sounds like the shrink is fishing for new patients.

Haha. My mom has a picture of me from when I'm (I dunno) 3? I walked up to the couch, and fell asleep with my feet on the ground and my torso and head on the couch. Standing, sleeping. Funniest pic ever. So is that some kind of child abuse because I'm in a vulnerable position? Could have rolled over and hit my head!!

I think this kid is going to laugh like a hyena if the parents save this video until his wedding day.

Some of those comments in the G&M article are pretty harsh. Typical wussy Liberal comments that I'd expect to see in the G&M. (sarcasm...sort of)

IMO the dad was taking a potentially scary situation for the kid and making it lighthearted. I thought that was more than enough to reassure the kid.

People are so overprotective of children it makes me sick.

Reminds me of this: (skip to about 1:20 then watch to the end)

It is idiots that Carlin is talking about that wrote that BS G&M article. Especially at about 5:00 until 5:30 or so.

Eh, if you use the youtube link there's another video of the same kid telling a pirate joke, he seems fine and well adjusted to me. (although he's not very good at telling the joke)
