Default Scratch repair

What is the best product to buy to clean and repair minor scratches on DVD's?

I know I can take my movies into somewhere to get done, but I have kids and don't have the time to do that - if something doesn't work, then I need to fix it on the spot. So I'm looking for an over the counter solution.

I have heard that car wax (liquid type) works. Never tried it myself though.

There's some scratch removal kits for sale at Bianca' Amour's Liquidation world.

It's a liquid polish and some special wipe by Maxell or some company like that.

The other solution is those spinning tools you can find in some stores like Futureshop and even Staples. They actually look like they scratch up your disc more as they are abrasive and you put the disc in and spin it. Somehow that corrects the tracks, I don't know how it works.

I have one of those. They remove a thin layer of the disc which gets rid of the scratch as long as it's not deep. It leaves ugly marks on the disc but according to the manual the way the laser reads the disc it doesn't pick up the marks. It's worked for most of the discs I've used it on but sometimes you need to do it twice for it to completely remove the scratch.

I was going to make a lame joke about using polysporin to repair scratches. Probably inspired by an Archie comic I read years ago where Reggie fooled Moose into using toothpaste on his comb to keep the teeth from falling out.[/useless post]

For me when my Forza 2 disc was fcked, like it wouldn't load, I read up and eventually tried "Furniture Polish". I sprayed the disc with the stuff, then wiped the excess away, using a motion of inside-to-outside, NOT CIRCULAR!!! After looking it over, it got rid of most of the minor scratches, put it in, and it actually worked, and has worked ever since!

Not sure why it works but it does. It is either furniture polish or cleaner, one of the two, I forget. I heard toothpaste works, but I suspect it to be messy, the stuff I used (like a glass cleaner spray) was rather easy.
