Thats a Monday. Possibly the Monday of the August long weekend. Can someone tell me how they pick the long-weekend in August? If it's the first Monday of the month then it's the previous one.
Where did you hear this? I think I might go but only if I get freebies. I hate getting gouged by these big shows.

I think it's the week after the long weekend.
I guess the rumour was in the paper...I had it confirmed by a couple people who know for sure. Black Crowes to open...at least that's what they're saying for now.

According to my sources you are correct. It's the week after the long weekend.
They have a big hole in their schedule -- they are in Japan on the 27th of July and in England on the 28th of August with nothing in between and an album coming out next week so I'm sure they are going hell bent for leather. You ever seen them before?

many times.
one of the best shows of my life was their show at the Shaw in Edmonton 2 Summers ago. They were to play Calgary on that tour too but all the venues were booked as it was Stampede week. Grohl is a born entertainer and he puts on a hell of a live show. The new CD is pretty got damn good too.

If I'm not mistaken, the new album is a double CD set...one plugged in and one acoustic, but all new material. Is that the case?
One of my favorite bands. I know how people worshiped Nirvana and Kurt Cobain (and I like them too) but I like Foo Fighters so much more it's not even funny.

fair point. of course it's possible that Dave Grohl learned a thing or two from Cobain as a songwriter??
either way Grohl's drumsound was a big part of the Nirvana breakthrough success, IMO
Ive just finished the Kurt Cobain book by Charles Cross (amazing what you can accomplish while recovering from surgery) and I found it quite a good read. Cobain was one f'ed up dude. interestingly it mentioned in that book that alot of the stuff that ended up on the first Foo album was possibly going to be worked into a followup to in utero

The acoustic side is a little blah for me....I'm a huge fan but i can sense a little filler on both discs. That's the risk you run when putting out a double CD. It may have served them better to compress the album into 1 CD. There are some great moments though. The duet with Norah Jones is pretty cool!
Anyway no matter what you think of the new stuff, this is a band I would urge everyone to see live. They are good.

God, you are right. That stands out as one of the single best shows I have ever seen. I believe the concert ended just before 1am, IIRC. Of course 2 openers contributed to that (My Morning Jacket and Pete Yorn), but man, what a concert!
