Beats me. Maybe CP is broken.
So, uh, dumping a girl after 2.5 years? Any reason? Seems like alot of CPers are ending LTR here lately. I went on my first first-date after a LTR, and found out medicine students, especially at big name universities, are really boring. I should try to get a job somewhere else then San Jose (aka Man Jose)

I'm not getting what I want out of the relationship, and it's been hard to keep it going these last 6 months or so. We aren't a very good match, and I've known this from the start but I always just tried not to think about it. I think the only reason I've kept it going is because of the way she looks, but I realize now that looks aren't everything and that I'm not happy so I need out.
Anyway, so did you get laid?

Haha well, I'm sitting on here talking to you, arn't I?
I'm not even sure what I want out of a date. Coffee sucks, cause when you meet someone new, you really don't give a crap where they're from or what they like to do. So, I end up trying to fill potential dead convo time with whatever comes to my mind. I'm thinking next time, I should try sailing as a first date, but I haven't gone in a while and might suck at it. It would be a good first date sort of thing, though. (I'm not real good at rounding the bases on the first date, usually takes me a few dates before I start covering the bases. )

What was it like when you dropped her off? Kiss? Hug? Awkward handshake?
I never know what to do there...

Handshake
She was more of the intellectual / passive type (Harvard grad... now at Stanford in medicine... I felt sort of small...) so she wasn't gonna be an easy lay. She couldn't flirt worth a damn, though I wasn't firing on all cylinders either.
Good to get that first one out of the way though. I'll also confess that I joined a co-ed soccer team cause there's a girl pretty cute on the team and she's single, but I haven't figured out a good opportunity to ask her out.

What did you do for a first date? I think I'd be way too uptight and uncomfortable unless I got a few drinks in me.

When the soccer girl scores a goal you should slap her ass. Guys do this to other guys in sports, so to not include her would be sexist...right....?

lol I've thought about it...
The first first-date was a little tense, definitely showing rust and could use a few drinks to take the edge off. I actually do ballroom dancing (sounds sort of girly but whatever) and was dancing with a friend that I've sort of gotten to know the past couple weeks, and she sort of made a flirty joke and I fumbled the pass. Yup, definitely rusty. (In all honesty, I'm not sure I'd interested in her, but I'd do her sister in a second.)
