Vice President....no, no...JUNIOR Vice President!

MYK's suggestions are probably the best so far. Network Engineer or Systems Engineer cover pretty much what you do, are generic enough to cover anything else, and are terms people recognize...although I'm not sure what the current thinking is on using the term Engineer when you don't have an iron ring or drive a train. If you work with a bunch of engineers they may scoff at your title. I still see nothing wrong with it though.
Some pretty funny stuff in this blog posting. Caution there is a bad word in the title, so cover your eyes. http://www.mpdailyfix.com/2007/04/im_a_huge_fan_of.html
Or this:
Quote:
In the Robert Half Technology Survey, CIOs ranked Microsoft Windows Server 2002/2003 administration as the skill-set most in demand, followed by network administration and database management. That information squares neatly with the six IT job titles included the Bureau of Labor Statistics’ list of the 30 fastest growing occupations 2004-2014:
• #2 Network systems and data communications analysts (54.6 percent growth)
• #5 Computer software engineers, applications (48.4 percent growth)
• #8 Computer software engineers, systems software (43.0 percent growth)
• #11 Network and computer systems administrators (38.4 percent growth)
• #12 Database administrators (38.2 percent growth)
• #25 Computer systems analysts (31.4 percent growth)

You're not allowed to use engineer in your title if you're not actually an engineer

I have a degree in the Computer Engineering from the UofA - not like it helps at all in my current job as Exchange Administrator except I have a fancy ass degree on my wall with a big gold sticker next to my CCNA and MCSE certs.
Plus, most engineers I know are douchbags - a couple are really good but most are not. Classic conversation with an engineer.
IT Overlord: I am installing a network install of AutoCAD on your laptop, which means that if you are not connected to our network via VPN, or if you dont reserve a license before you leave then AutoCAD wont work. Instructions on how to do both are located on the public drive, I will also email them to you - email sent.
Engineering jacktard: No problem, thanks, now let me get back to thinking I work for GM or Ford designing cars instead of designing oilfield equipment.
Week later...
Engineering jacktard: Yo, IT loser, i was at home on the weekend and couldnt open up AutoCAD.
IT Overlord (I already know the answer but I like to have people of supposed above average intelect figure it out for them selves): Did you reserve a license before you left or did you logon to VPN
Engineering jacktard: I tried to open it, and it didnt work and I needed to work on some drawings so I had to come in on Saturday cause you didnt answer your cell phone.
IT Overlord: Did you reserve a license before you left or did you logon to VPN - also, I work on Salary, not hourly and dont get paid OT, so I only answer calls on the weekend from people who I think could get be fired if they bitch enough. If you would have left a VM I would have responded via Email.

Engineering jacktard: ummm.
IT Overlord: Hangs up.

I hope the floor you typed this out on collapses because an engineer failed to do his homework.

Go back to looking fondly at old muscle cars wishing you could one day be a designer for Ferrari.
I know I wont be driving over any overpasses in Quebec anytime soon

how about IT Infrastructure Specialist?
takes the manager portion out of it, but your duties cover almost all infrastructure related tasks?

Personally I think the simplest is the best: Systems Administrator. If you're feeling frisky, try for Senior Systems Administrator.
What you want is something that looks good on a resume, but doesn't look like it is some kind of made-up title they give people who have no authority but want to make feel "special".
