Maybe all that scratching will increase blood flow and reverse the effects of the balding process instead.

So, I got this friend. His head has been itchy for a while and he doesn't think it's lice, but is there any way for him to know for sure?

Well your 'friend' certainly has taken the best possible first step in handling his medical condition by posting on CP.

I hate ties!
Both of my soccer teams tied on 2 consecutive nights, and I feel unsatisfied. I want to get out there again right away and win, but I have to wait a week.

I don't think it's lice, I think it's just dry skin.

edit: I just googled it, and lice are visible (2-3mm long). No way it's lice.

Have you tried a different shampoo? Do you use conditioner?

It's probably whatever you're using on your hair. If it seems dry, and you don't use conditioner, try getting some.

I'd recommend a professional brand, but most guys refuse to spend the money for it.

Nope I don't use conditioner. As for shampoo, I recently switched to baby shampoo because I was told that might help but it hasn't yet...

Do you go to a stylist? If so, have you mentioned it to him/her? See if they can suggest a shampoo for you, there are a few professional brands that have awesome scalp therapy shampoos. My scalp always gets dry/itchy during the winter, and so once a week I use a shampoo/conditioner specifically for scalp care.

By the third one, I had some pretty wicked whiplash/soft tissue damage. I went through physical therapy, I tried facet nerve block injections, I tried massage, chiropractors, heat and cold therapy, medications, etc, and it's never gotten better. Eventually the doctor told me I'd just have to get used to it, more or less. Sometimes I wonder if it's worse than I once thought, because every so often, my arms/hands will go cold/numb, and that kind of worries me, because it seems to happen more as time goes on.
My Mom and sister both have the same problem. My sis has recovered ok, she's now 35. Mom has more bad days as she's in her 60's. Get a good physiotherapist and try to stay on top of it.

The thought of going bald terrifies me, but if the balding process became noticeable I'd just shave my whole head rather than look like George Costanza. I've got a pretty big melon though, so I might look goofy with the hair shaved off...

^ I agree
My uncles on my Mom's side are all crowned or bald, so I'm pretty much genetically destined to be the same.
Just shaving my head and looking like buddha will be my plan, since I rather be bald than have a crown
