I wonder if, by an even more amazing coincidence, the bottom of this woman's daily bottle of scotch says the same thing?

This is the second toy she has taken away from her daughter?

I googled "Islam is the Light" and found this (top site) in regards to the doll she apparently took away from her daughter:
Quote:
One part of the playback does sound vaguely like "Islam is the light," though to be honest it sounds a lot more like "As long as the light" to me. An audio expert consulted by KJRH-TV News in Tulsa, Oklahoma reviewed the recording and concluded the snippet in question sounds closest to "It's not near the light."

Which all goes to show we mustn't discount the power of suggestion. People tend to hear what they expect to hear -- or what they've been primed to hear.

Yeah, but what the heck does "As long as the light" or "It's not near the light" even mean? Why would a toy company program a doll to say that?

The point is, they wouldn't. The dolls say nothing because babies say nothing. It's infantile gibberish and thus is bound to be construed as all sorts of things. We adopted all three of our kids after they had started speaking, so I don't have any real experience with this, but I'm fairly certain that parents hear all sorts of strange things coming from their babies mouths all the time. "First words" aren't really words at all: they're noises that babies make. They become words when they receive the encouragement from parents to continue making certain sounds, to which they attach meanings.

If anything, this is proof of the power of suggestion, we're given some jibberish and told it supposedly says "Islam is the light" and we all sit around and nod our heads in agreement because that's what we're trying to hear.
