They have been here longer then me and because of that they will always be above me. I have been told that straight up, nothing beats signority. I am not the type of person that gets hung up on titles and such but it is something that was asked of me to do.

As for your other comment about what I could be making that blew my mind, I am nowhere near that. Maybe it might not hurt to look around, just to see what is there.

Pick a title that will help you get the role you want next.

Also, in these times where contractors are getting purged left right and centre, avoid the term "consultant" in your title.

In general, try to get the highest business hierarchy term in your title as possible - director, manager, VP, etc. Manager probably isn't too far fetched. Systems Manager, IT Manager, etc.

In the IT world there are 3 golden gooses so to speak of.

Network Security
Network Engineering
Exchange Administrator
4: - not really obtainable but legacy systems, you can make a killing but they are really for older IT persons

If you have training\experience in any of the above 3, you will never have trouble finding a job (might not be in Calgary, but). Calgary is the best place to work in IT west of TO IMO becuase of the head offices. The Network type jobs are only at head offices, or major branch offices (over 1000) other than that, that job can be done remotely.

Example, I work for a company with almost 10000 employees world wide, we have 2 Network Engineers total. If I were you, I would take some courses at SAIT vis a vi Exchange migration techniques etc as that will be very usefull on a future resume. Also, in the mean time I would try to milk as many training seminar/courses out of the company that you can before you jump ship. Have them send you to the states for training courses to make up for your pay descepancy.

Business Systems Analyst and Technical Trainer

The dual title sounds odd (maybe someone can merge the two better), but I think it's in your best interests to make note of both responsibilities... training is a great skill to have on your resume, especially if you're involved in the actual creation of the courses.

As per job title, I would choose something basic as to not to rock the ship.

Network Exchange Administrator

The training, voip migration, it policies etc are all great, but dont include them in the title IMO.
