Everyone does get pissed off once in a while, but have you ever gone off on a tirade like that? Humiliating an underling for 5 minutes in front of everyone?

He sounds like a fool. I hope he has to come out with some weak apology for this.

Agreed. We've all done it, it just usually lasts 20-30 seconds before we regain composure and we cool off. Even if he had a valid point, it was a pretty over the top reaction, especially with someone you work with. Bale is the one who came off as an amateur here.

He freaked out on the DP (Director of Photography,) so he wasn't really an underling per se. It's basically the guys job to make sure the lighting, camera angles and etc. are in conjunction with what the Director has described and envisioned for the scene.

I've never lost it like that in a work environment even for 20-30 seconds.

Ever work in a non-office environment?

Having worked in both it's two entirely different balls of wax. I've heard a lot worse rants then that, but if it happened in an office setting, it would be insane... but in an on-location type job.. no biggie.

I'm sure he never made that mistake with Mr. Bale again, however.

Neither have I but if I was worth millions that might change. Especially if I knew that I could get away with it.

You'd have to get a whole lot of cash, because you'd probably never get work again in Hollywood.

Being rich doesn't give you the right to be a head.

If you treat people poorly just because you can "get away with it" -- that's the definition of the word that rhymes with gashole.

I wonder if he's learned any lesson here. If you treat people badly, they'll respond in kind. They might, ironically enough, release an embarrassing recording of you acting like a spoiled child.

Good luck, with the new Batsuit he can turn his head and is way faster with hand to hand combat. But more susceptible to knives and gunfire, so start there.

Not only is what he did hilarious but everybody getting bent out of shape over it like this is some news worthy item amuses me also. Well done Bale.

If Gordon Ramsey throws a fit at someone on a show its entertainment but if Bale flips out at someone who sounds like they f'ed up, then suddenly people want to punch / hate Bale.

I don't know who exactly is getting bent out of shape. The guy sounds like an idiot. Case closed. Shape not bent.

I guess it is kind of funny though. A guy like that being publicly made a fool of is always good for a laugh.

I've worked in both too and indeed have heard worse - but it doesn't excuse it. People deserve to be treated a certain way. There are far better ways to handle a situation.

Regardless though it does indeed happen and frankly I don't think its a huge deal. Its not cool on his part but people lose their temper all the time. He may have apologized 5 minutes later for all we know.

The world of TMZ, cellphone video, etc are making it very difficult for celebrities to mess up at all. Their life which was already under a microscope is now under one every second of every day. Kinda lame.

Funny thing is, by all accounts Ramsey is one of the nicest people around. It's all a show.

I've heard that exact thing from some people who would know. They said he is actually rather quiet and just a really nice guy....strange when you watch Kitchen Nightmares in particular. I tried to see signs of this after that commentary and just can't see it at all, but don't doubt that is the truth.

Whether Ramsay is actually like that is somewhat irrelevant though. People volunteer to go on his show, knowing they are going to get chewed out. This guy on the movie set, has less of a choice as I see it. Sure he could go elsewhere, but he didn't sign up for the job thinking he was going to get humiliated like that in front of everyone.

Essentially Bale is a "boss" in this situation. And I'm not saying bosses should never yell at their subordinates, but in a business world or any job site for that matter, a situation is better handled as far as I'm concerned, by taking the guy aside, and explaining to him what he did wrong and how you want it done in the future. Always in private unless it's praise, as I heard from someone wiser than I.

I don't like to be coddled on the job. If I am screwing up, I want to know about it. But there are better ways to handle any situation, than yelling for 3 minutes like a moron.

That said, I'll still watch movies with Christian Bale in them.
