I'm sitting in bed looking out the window of my 10th floor apartment watching some big fireworks explode. The fireworks are probably only about 20-30 feet from my window and are regularly sending showers of sparks and casings flying against the glass. It's funny that someone is setting them off right next to the building when right in the middle of our complex there is a big empty swimming pool where they could be fired off safely. It's been going on for about 2 hours. It looks pretty damn cool to see them fired off this close up.

My dad just brought me a brand spanking new mouse and mouse pad. Both Flames of course. The mouse actually has fluid in the end, with a little mini hockey puck suspended in the red and white fluid. When you move the mouse and the infra red lights up the fluid gets all bright. This thing is awesome.

Here be the result of a combination of puzzlement over the glut of post-dated OOT threads and trying to kill a little time.
OOT - January 31, 2012
Tampa Bay vs. Florida - ...and after several years, the drug-free alternative to Lunesta - Bolts vs. Cats games - continues to stand up to repeated non-clinical trials! Will Lecavalier ever be worth his contract again??? Flip a coin - and I will guesszzzzz whoops dozed off.
NYR vs. NYI - who'dda thunk a couple of years back that Rick DiPietro would rebound and lead the Islanders to back-to-back Stanley Cups? Long Island looking to keep going strong after running the table up to the Few-Stars break; Sedin twins continue to waste away on Broadway. Rags hapless as per usual. I predict NYI wins 10-0 again.
Jets vs. Leafs - Cammalleri has really been lighting it up for Toronto lately! Thank god the Jets traded for Ovechkin or this one would be a laugher. Both of these teams looking to make the playoffs for the first time in eons this season. This one probably goes to the old Text In Who You Think You Should Win 8 point game.
Canucks vs. Oilers - Can anything ever go right for either of these teams? Looks like the Canucks and Oilers are both poised to finish middle-of-the-pack again this season. Too bad Canucks backup Ray Emery beat the crap out of Luongo in practice or they wouldn't have to start hapless third-string Albert Roloson. Mactavish's desperate comeback bid continues to fall flat for the Oilers, and will likely continue to see fourth line duty with Hemsky and off-season 'big splash' signing Jeff Friesen. This one goes to the Shootout - gotta love the NHL for changing it from 3 guys aside trying to score on a breakaway to having the Buffalo Sabres come in and play against both teams to see who can let in 10 goals the fastest. I predict... Edmonton! Ahhhh just like the good old days.

You know it is going to be a bad day when you walk into the office, and before you can even sit down at your desk, your boss tells you "corporate wants to go to to Vulcan, right now, to fix an issue."
Guess I'll have to get my Spock ears so I can fit in...

I witnessed quite possibly the most unlikely to succeed pickup attempt ever this morning.
I'm at Second Cup looking at the menu board to try and figure out what to get. As I'm getting in line there's a woman standing off to the side of the line. As soon as I get into line, she joins the line behind me. Since I thought she might have been confused where the line was, I offer to let her go in front of me in the line but she refuses. I thought it was weird at the time but soon the reason for her actions would become clear.
I'm waiting and in front of me is a short fat middle aged guy with greasy black hair. I start to take a little more notice of him when he asks the woman behind the counter, in a high pitched voice, how much he can get and proceeds to hand her a couple handfuls of what looks to be mostly nickels. Now I understand why the woman joined the line right after me because at this point I'm trying to figure out if he's either a hobo or an escaped mental patient. So the woman at the counter hands him a cup of coffee and tells him that's how much he gets.
This is when the guy makes his move. There's a different woman working the cash. She's young and impossibly cute. Possibly the cutest I've seen in Edmonton. He starts asking her how her day is and trying to make small talk with her in his high pitched voice. Keep in mind he's already handed over his sock full of nickels so there's no reason for him to deal with the cashier. He's obviously trying to engage her in a conversation and she's clearly uncomfortable but doesn't want to make it to obvious to him for fear that he might pull out a shiv or something. He eventually leaves the counter area and I'm laughing at this freak. I place my order and consider making a joke to the cashier about him but couldn't decide what to say. I just shook my head and snickering while she seems thankful that he's gone.
While waiting for my drink, I hear the same screechy voice say, "don't back up..." as he squeezes past me and the post four feet away. Then he tries to restart the conversation with the cashier but she's busy and acts like she doesn't hear him. I guess he took the hint or something because he waddles out of the shop.

^^awesome^^
So this morning I discovered the 24 hour walmart. I woke up at 6am for some reason and had nothing to do... So I remembered something about 24 hour walmarts, googled it, lo and behold, the one closest to me (westbrook) is 24 hour. Rad. I went there to buy a new shower curtain and walked out stocked up on all the stuff that makes grocery shopping expensive. Fricken BBQ sauce is like 2 bucks cheaper than at safeway. Everything is. Franks, ketchup, pickles, everything is 2 bucks cheaper. TP, PB, frozen juices are like 50 cents. Huh. I've discovered a new way to shop. In the middle of the night. Ordinarily I can't stand walmart. It's always packed... And always packed with questionable-looking people. But not at 6am on saturday. I swear I just saved $60, plus it only took about half an hour. So awesome.
Oh, then I felt really bad about what happened in the parking lot. The cashier mentioned that there was a shooting at safeway!?! and when I was going out to the truck, some young reporter asked me "excuse me, sir. Do you have a quick minute to talk?" to which I replied "no", when in fact I did. I have all the time in the world. It's 7am on saturday and I'm at walmart.

I am the exact same way in regards to WalMart. I would shop there all the time if it weren't for the crowds. I went last Sunday at 7am, and it was glorious. Yes, glorious. I mean I feel bad for the employees that work all night for 5.25 an hour, but too bad!
