WTF kind of favour is this?
So my buddy just called me and said that his aunt needs about two truckloads of stuff taken from her storage unit to her revenue property. If me and him (my buddy) take both our trucks and move the stuff, she'll give us her tickets to tonight's game. Don't have to ask me twice... I'm in.
Next thing I know, another buddy starts texting me asking if he can go instead. Really lays it on thick, saying he really wants to go, please, please, please, etc....
So I reply that if it's that important to him, go right ahead. (I'm such a nice guy).
But then it happens... He replies that he can't move the stuff. Yeah. That's the favour. I move the stuff, he goes to the game. WTF? Then he says that he'll buy me a case of beer. You're god damn right you'll buy me a case of beer. Like a 2-4. F'n guy...
So I haven't said yes or no. The ticket is still mine, but he's begging. He's one of my best friends and he never, ever imposes like this. In fact, he's one of those guys that will always say yes when you ask a favour. But so am I, so we're pretty even. I just helped move his mom a couple months ago. We're definitely even on the favour front. But again, one of my best friends. I just can't help but wonder what he'd do if the roles were reversed.
Damn. Should I hook him up? This is a seriously tough decision.

Can he return the favour with some tickets for you in the future? If your relationship with the guy involves returning favours to each other, that would seem like the way to balance the equation. That and a 2-4 since he's the one that's so heated up about going to this game.

Well, I don't know you or your friend, so I can't judge. But I have to say, your friend was being pretty underhanded.
If your friend was upfront with you I would say go ahead. But he didn't, and was sneaky about it.
It is up to you what you do, but I think you should at least ask him why he did it the way he did, and if he has a good reason then go ahead, but otherwise I would say you go to the game man.
That is not a great thing for a friend to do, but I don't know you guys or the circumstances.
Hope that helps a little!

I don't like it 4x4. He should give you more than a case of beer. But I do like when you call me Misty....

She should be moved more than every couple months. Bed sores are no laughing matter.
As for the favour, if your buddy can't move the stuff I'm surprised he would still ask to go to the game. Exchange for another set of tickets would be fair. A good quantity of beer would suffice but he'll probably try to drink them with you. That always happens with those kinds of repayments.

Lol @ the mom joke...
But yeah, I'm surprised as well. The first guy dangles the carrot (help move stuff and go to the game) and the second guy asks to go to the game and get me to move the stuff for him. Damn. And the twist in all of this is that my g/f is supposed to come over tonight, so giving up the ticket isn't that hard, but moving the stuff (which I probably would have done for free, anyway) suddenly becomes a favour to another person.
Screw it. After the ass kicking Buffalo unleashed on Dirty Stinking Mulletville last night, I'm anticipating a very good game tonight. And the last time I saw Buffalo at the dome, we lost 3-0 in a terrible effort, on my birthday no less. Dammit, I wanna go to the game. Mr. Nice Guy is on leave today.

if I read the above, it's a different buddy that wants in on the game, not the one who's Mom it is. Correct me if I'm wrong, 4X4.
Oh, and I'd tell him to stick it if he wanted tickets for a measley case of beer.

I think the best way to make a decision like that is to use the Molson 'code' voiceover in your head and see if that tells you what to do:
"There's an unwritten code in Canada. If you live by it, chances are, you'd give a hockey ticket to your buddy even though you spent a day moving the furniture that it took to earn the ticket."
I don't know, doesn't really fit. I think you should keep the ticket.

You are correct. The person that needs moving is my other friend's aunt and she's giving the tickets as payment. The buddy asking to go is a guy that I recently help move his mom. That was just an example of the kind of favours we're constantly doing for each other.

Ask him why he wants 'em so bad, then get back to us with his reply, and we will give better responses.
It must be something good if he wants to go that badly.

Tell him your wallet has a ticket in it, and it can only be removed with money.
Seriously, I'd go to the game. You did all the work, you helped someone out, you deserve the reward.

Tell him to piss off. If he was a true fan he would skip class for the Flames.
