Looking for DJ references and who to avoid. Assistance is appreciated, the Mrs. is getting on my case because apparently this is my only responsibility and I am not living up to her expectations...
It has already begun.

It won't be, I'll be there! hahaha
I hired a real night club DJ for my wedding. I wanted someone who could scratch and mix. He was awesome. I can check to see if he still spins.

I dont think the Mrs. would be down with the scratching and such. I am looking for someone with lots of experience who has a wide range of music. I will probably want them to provide sound for the ceremony as well.
People to avoid are welcome as well, if you are not comfortable posting the names feel free to fire me a PM.

I just got married last May and we had a great person. I'm just getting the number from the significant other and I'll send you a PM. I didn't want a DJ who would take over the show as we already had an MC and he was great. Just played the music, played requests and had a few tasteful games that he checked with us before playing. He played a bit of everything. I'm a country fan so he worked in country music without annoying people who hate country music. It was really good. He met with us before and had us pick specific songs for every portion of the reception (I'm sure every DJ does this). Anyways, as soon as I have the number I'll PM it to you.

I used to be a wedding DJ. That was the weirdest job I ever had - by far. I played this one wedding where the bride and groom were 2nd generation Canadians from the Balkans. Thing was, they were from different - and antagonistic - ethnic groups. But, since their families all lived in Canada they were cool enough to all agree to come to the wedding, but each family refused to acknowledge the other family.
There were like two hundred people at that wedding and there were two completely separate parties going on. They wouldn't even go to the bar at the same time. The only people going back and forth between the two were the bride and groom and some of the people in their wedding party.
The really weird thing is that as far as I could tell, everyone was having a great time.
Incidentally, I recommend Guatemala as a great place to go for your honeymoon - specifically the town of Antigua, Lake Quetzaltenango (Xela), and the ruins at Tikal.
