Default Summer Hockey Leagues

I am just wondering if people can recommend a GOOD summer hockey league. I've played in the NCHL and HNA and they are both jokes.

I know about Alberta Summer Hockey League, but they have too many games. We are looking for about one game a week.

I tried searching but couldn't find anything.

Thanks

I've heard good things about the sasm (Southern Alberta Senior Mens) although I THINK you have to be invited somehow. I might be thinking about the Rocky though, I can't really remember.

Alberta Summer Hockey League is the best summer league in the city. Great ice times and the best arenas. The waiting list is apparently pretty long.

SASM is a winter hockey league, and the people who run it also run the Alberta Summer Hockey League, which is in all aspects, the best summer league in the city. I believe the wait list is quite long for mid-level talent teams, however they are always looking for Division 1 teams. The big problem ASHL has had the last couple years is that they've had a 5 or 6 team Division 1, with 3 of those teams having no business in that division. So I believe they're always looking to make that division more competitive.

12 regular season games. None on the weekends and alright ice times.

None of the stupid matching pants/helmets, etc rules like HNA.

PIM cap is set at 30 minutes per player for the regular season (20 for playoffs).

Although, for the summer, the HNA relaxes its uniform rules.

Really? So you don't need name bars and matching equipment in summer there?

IF anyone is interested in ball hockey during the spring/summer, then check out the Royal Hockey League (RHL)..we play in indoor rinks and it's great and fast game.

PM for information.

For the WRAHL you do not need matching uniforms for both winter or summer.

And by that I mean you do not need the same logo, colour pants or socks. Just same coloured jersey with numbers.

You don't need that for HNA Summer Hockey, winter only.

Your jerseys don't need letters just numbers.

This is no longer true. The owners of SASM sold the ASHL a year or two ago (to one of the players in the league). I can't speak to what changes the new ownership had on the league (we left the year before the sale), but up until then, it was probably the best all around (ice times, number of teams, organized, etc) league in the city period (winter/summer).

This is true of all leagues I think. The Summer Division AA of the NCHL probably has the hightest quality talent in the city at the moment (in the last couple of years), but of course the ice times are nowhere near as good as the ASHL times.

Sorry to bump an old thread, but looking to play in a summer league (don't know enough guys to form a team, but me and/or a couple guys would love to play in any league)

I played Jr. B, but whatever division is available I will gladly play! (and pay)

Thanks!
