Roger going for his record tying 14th grand slam. I hope he breaks Pistol Pete's record at the French and finally cement himself as the best tennis player of all time

Yup, it shows how precise tennis can be. You have to play perfect to beat a guy like Federer and Berdych was, until that fateful 7th game in the 3rd set where he chokes three volleys. From then on he was toast.
TSN has tennis coverage tonight at 8:00 (mountain). Should be right in the middle of the Roddick-Djokovic quarterfinal. Bad blood spilling over from last year's US Open.

That was a great match. I know Federer has come off as arrogant and cocky in the past, but the guy is one of the best ever. I like seeing him as the underdog now because you can finally see that the guy is human. He's a lot more emotional on the court and you can tell that he really, really wants to get that #1 spot back.
That said, he better bring it tonight. Del Potro is a very similar player to Berdych... but without the mental issues. The guy has been one of the best (if not the best) player on tour the last couple of months.
That Djokovic and Roddick match should be a good'er too. Here's hoping Roddick runs right over Djokovic.

I did watch that game and happen to be following the tourney (as I do most tennis majors).
That match was, quite simply, awesome. Berdych off to a roll but then the "TSN turning point" was probably the replay system not working for one shot that Berdych challenged. He was clearly rattled after that, because he really wanted a look at it.
I'm staying up another hour or two to hopefully catch the Roddick/Djokovic match. Rooting for Andy!
Actually....I think TSN's coverage starts in just a few minutes (from 8:00-11:30 pm MST) and then more coverage at 1:30 am MST.
Edit: oops, didn't see GirlySports' post. But as a correction to what she said, I believe that Roddick's match won't start before 9:00 pm.

Yes I missed that part, I didn't realize there was a doubles match to start off. 9pm it is! Go Andy!
And women's tennis is weird. How do you break serve to go up 3-1 and then lose 11 games in a row?

^ The doubles match is on a different court, though. The match on Roddick/Djokovic's court was the women's singles between Bartoli and Zvonareva.
Anyhoo, doesn't matter. Just hope that tool Djokovic gets owned.

You know you're a bad guy and not well liked when:
A) people are cheering for an American against you on neutral soil
B) you're suffering and dying out there and the crowd is still jeering you.

Agreed. Novak is just not a popular player. I don't like him, but I don't hate him either. I'm only cheering for Andy because Novak is so close to Roger in points that Federer is closer to being the third seed then the first seed.
Novak is falling apart, but I would too playing in 61 degree celcius on-court temperature

Novak retires! I didn't think Andy would win, but it was apparent his conditioning was better. I'm liking how this tourney is shaping up so far

I only really got into tennis last year when I attended the US Open in New York but I'm really enjoying watching this tournament.
Looking forward to the quarter finals match ups.

Djokovic couldn't handle the scorching heat - broadcast team called it before the match started.
Roddick looked pretty good.

Well Djokovic looked terrible today. Granted, Roddick did play pretty darn well too. That serve is killer. Find it interesting that Novak retired.... again.
Federer ROMPED today too. That's a pretty darn impressive win over a guy that has been playing great tennis. Hopefully he can carry his momentum over Roddick now.
I think we'll see Tsonga vs. Nadal in the other semi.... we'll see though!

Here's hoping for another Federer/Nadal final. You don't even have to be a tennis fan to appreciate these guys.
Anyone know what time the Nadal match is on and if it's on TSN?

Djokovic blamed cramp and "soreness in my whole body" as the defence of his Australian Open title ended in miserable fashion.
However, Federer, who later crushed Juan Martin del Potro to book a semi-final against Roddick, said he was not surprised to see Djokovic pull out.
"It's happened before. It's not the guy that's never given up in his career," said the 13-times Grand Slam champion.
"It's disappointing to see when you have two top guys playing each other and you give up.
"He gave up against me in Monaco last year because of a sore throat so those are kind of things you wonder about.

Must suck when your peers don't even respect you.

Lately he's insisted that his name is pronounced 'Jock'-oh-vich, where as clearly, the correct and much more appropriate pronounciation is 'Joke'-oh-vich.

Yep, Djokovic is one of those people who will never truly be a winner, titles or not. Can you imagine another top player pulling out of a major because of those ridiculous reasons? Nadal, Roddick, Federer, etc.? Nope.

First set of the Williams Kuznetsova quarter final being played right now with the roof open.
Outdoor temperature is well over 100. Courtside temperature is reported as 134 degrees farenheit, which equates to 56.7 degrees celcius.
Mercifully they've decided to close the roof after this opening set. Why they didn't have the roof closed from the get-go is beyond me.

Cause the players generally hate indoor tennis. But you're right, they probably should have closed the roof at the beginning of yesterday's play.
