I don't know what to call this one, but it was one of my favourite concoctions:
• Two pieces of french toast
• One poached egg
• Fried ham and turkey
• Melted swiss and/ gouda
• A dopple of plain or french vanilla yogurt
I'm a sandwich lover, but am also compulsively lazy in the kitchen, so most often soothe my cravings with a classic italian from Quizno's
But the best sandwich I have ever had in my life, was an original Philly cheese steak from Ishkabbible's Eatery in dountown Philadelphia.
So good. It totally wrecked any future Philly cheese steak experience I might have.

I love sandwiches. So many possibilities... all so good!
Mine usually end up like this:
-lightly toasted bread, just enough to give it some crunch
-hummus
-lettuce
-tomato
-whatever other veggies are kicking around like cucumber and peppers
-sprouts
-toasted pumpkin seeds
-avocado
-a little bit of ranch
-salt and pepper

Oh, it is! I've tried putting tomatoes in it as well. If you put them between the prosciutto and the basil, it isn't too bad. I find in general though, tomatoes make the bread soggy.

Eggplant sandwich from St. Lawrence market in Toronto.
I've considered going there from here (Ottawa) just for the sandwich. Damn those things are good....

I had jalepeno jelly the other night. It wasn't bad but it was weird.

There is a quite famous (infamous?) deli in Montreal that has the best snadwich I have ever had. Of course its Montreal smoked meat, but you order it lean, medium or regular, meat on one plate, bread on the other, build your own and go to town. It was frickin' awesome and I CANNOT remember what the hell it was called!!

The most important thing for a sandwich is the bread. If you've got lousy bread, you're almost guaranteed a lousy sandwich. But if you've got great bread, you can put the most basic stuff on it and still have a great sandwich.

Peanut butter and Velveeta cheese. Seriously. Anyone I convince to try it becomes a convert.

I love all sandwiches and Philly's are right up there for me. Here's my East meets West take on this classic...
Striploin steak, thinly sliced (8oz steak)
Soy sauce
Garlic, minced
Ginger, minced
Hoisin sauce
(if you don't have any Hoisin, substitute with brown sugar or honey and a splash of wine vinegar...preferably red)
Onion, thinly sliced
Mushrooms, sliced (I would recommend crimini)
Spinach
Shredded Mozarella
marinade the beef for at least a half an hour. Saute quickly with some vegetable oil (sesame oil if you have it). Add onions and mushrooms and cook until onions are soft, then add the spinach. All you really wanna do with the spinach is wilt it briefly.
choose your favorite type of bun, I prefer an Italian bread like and Amoroso Roll. spread butter or wasabi mayo on the bun. Add your steak and vegies, top with some moza and bake until the cheese is nicely melted.

A local gourmet grocery store here makes this excellent sandwich.
Bocconnini cheese, artichokes, avocado, tomatoes and olive tapenade on a ciabatta bun.
Yummy
