Chinese tend to avoid the number 4. Signifies death. Sort of like 13. Just superstitious stuff.
Girlysports might be able to expand on that.

How does it compare to 16 and 35? That was Abraham Lincoln and JFK. If those were lucky numbers I'm not going to worry too much about 44

This speech is okay I guess. Could use a few more jokes though.

That's the same reason I avoid asian restaurants.

Actually, funny you should mention. I have no idea if 16 means anything, but 35 does a bit (though it's backwards). 3 is "live" or "life" and 5 is "no" or "not" in cantonese.

You would be well to do so. Death usually hides in the fried rice.

Who knows what from that will actually be lived up to, but damn that's a nice breath of fresh air after 8 years of cancerous festering Bush.

That's right! Therefore, we need to add the + between the numbers.
He'll be the 4+4th president. Excellent. We just saved his life.

Hmmm, not very impressed with this 'poem'.
I could write that. It's basically minimalist writing. It's not very poetic. No rythym, not very visual.
EDIT: Ok, it's actually brutal.

Boy, this second speech is a real step down in terms of delivery. I like the message of love, but it could do with a few less colourful adjectives and poetic descriptions.

Well it WAS supposed to be a poem.
But that's it exactly, it sounded like a speech. It was brutal as far as poetry goes.

You know it's a poem, right? (Not sure if you're being sarcastic or not.)
Edit: Although, admittedly, I had to read the headline in order to figure that out. Completely brutal.

4 = sa't which is similar to the word for death
8 = pa`t which is similar to the word for money
---
9 is also popular because it's the highest score you can get in baccarat.
and
6 is also popular because there are 6 bullets in a revolver.
