Recycled Oil!
Today the Edmonton Oilers did something they're very good at. They resurrected a relic from their past glory in hopes of returning to prominence by naming Sylvanfan as the clubs 7th General Manager. The Oilers who have made the CPHL playoffs for 5 consecutive seasons as one of the Howe Conferences top 4 seeds have struggled through the first half of this season sitting 10th in the Western Conference two points out of the final playoff spot.
Since being fired after game 7 of the 2005 Stanley Cup playoffs by than owner Peter Pocklington for what he cited as "Epic Failure" Syl has surfaced in New Jersey and Columbus trying to resurrect those franchises. But family issues pushed Syl out of New Jersey where the team still never recovered to this day. Recently ex CPHL Commissioner Cheese organized a CPHL coup d'etat to fire half the leagues GM's and was successful in ousting Syl from the Jackets position. But once again Cheese decided to go off and fight organized religion opening up an oppurtunity for Syl to resurface. New owner Darryl Katz with his love of nostalgia jumped on the bandwagon to make it happen.
Gone are Martin Brodeur, Marian Hossa, Vincent Lecavalier, Jay Bouwmeester, and Jeff Carter who were Oilers the last go round for GM Syl. In their place is Roberto Luongo, Rick Nash, Henrik Zetterberg, and Patrick Sharp.
Right now I'm evaluating the team, considering all my scenarios, and numerous projections. I have to get a feel for the league again and devise myself a plan. I've had some internet issues at home which won't get fixed for like another two days, so you probably won't see my on MSN till after this weekend. Until than, PM is the best way to hunt me down. Thanks for the welcome back!

Relevant tags there.....haha.
The Oilers have a lot of good pieces so you have a lot to work with. I'm sure you'll find a way to get the Oilers into the playoffs again.

Pretty sure I left it in the best condition I could have, given the contract growth of a few of the superstars I started with.

Yeah, you probably left it in the best condition YOU could have. Pretty sure there's a few of us that could've done better with that team though.
To be honest, Simmer and I were discussing how there needs to be more friendly ribbing (not the kind that women get pleasure from) going on in the league to make it more competitive and fun. I'm just playing it safe by picking on someone that's not actually in the league anymore!

Well if the Preds and Ducks are playing that way, I hate financial advisors and England.

hey I hate England too, but the rest of Europe is pretty sweet!
Oh and they are allowing me to do med school so I should thank them for that, I guess a 3.9 GPA in Canada isn't good enough!

Something was just brought to my attention that I think we should be wary of...in order to keep this thread from getting locked we should all make sure not to poke fun of Mango.

Why the hell do you want to be a Doctor anyways....heres a life lesson for you. Real life hospitals are nothing like Grey's anatomy! You're better off being an electrician or welder and saving your money in the boom times and than running off to Thailand or the Phillipines to weather recessions! Way cheaper.

LOL!
If I couldn't come back to Canada then that would be an option! Fortunately Ontario has come to their senses, if only Alberta would follow!
