Default Art depicting Euro stereo types

Man did the Italians get off easy! Bulgarians got it worst. Good stuff. Have a look and a read.

Czech Sculpture No Laughing Matter in Brussels

A new sculpture in Brussels, commissioned by the Czech Republic in honor of its stint as holder of the European Union presidency, has rankled some EU members. The artwork depicts countries using stereotypes, not all of them terribly flattering.
It's no secret that the Czech Republic is one of the more euro-skeptic members of the European Union. The country's president, Vaclav Klaus -- who, as it happens, is the current holder of the EU's rotating presidency -- called in 2005 for the bloc to be "scrapped" and was a vocal opponent of the Lisbon Treaty, which was rejected by Irish voters in 2008 before the Czech Republic had a chance could torpedo it.

The polish monks raising a gay pride flag is gut busting hilarity. Overall, I can see why countries are offended. They all seemed to be digs at someone, I coudn't tell, but were all the Italian players diving or something?

Those crazy Czechs. Romania was my favorite, but they forgot the most important thing. Wasn't Romania the first country in Europe to erect a statue of a hockey player? Vakar Lajos.....

The artist, David Cerny, told the Czech government that the piece would be created in conjunction with artists from across the EU. Instead, he did it together with a couple of his friends.
I bet there were a great many beers had during this planning.

As an Italian I find it hilarious though. All of our guys are humping footballs.

On a whole I find it brilliant work. Good for him (the artist).

The French one could not be more true! When I was living in France, I could not believe the amount of strikes that went on. Everyone there likes to strike about anything and everything. I can't even count the number of times transit went on strike there...

Even the students at the university I went to decided to strike! Why? No one knows! They just felt like it!

This is extra funny if you have been to the artist's website. Sorry I can't forget the address but this guy has a sense of humor. The backstory is that he was only supposed to design the Czech part and other countries could submit their own. He lied and he and a few buddies built it themselves in a garage and now it's in Brussels (I've been in that building).

He says that Europe needs a sense of humor but all the politicians are going crazy.

I saw this the other day, I think the France one is pretty funny, so is the one about the Turkish toilets.

Also, isn't stereotypes one word?

And once again, Malta gets the shaft. When is this tiny powerhouse nation going to start its own Mediterranean bloc? I'm waiting for the day!!
