Works for me.
Nolan was the LB coach in Denver under Dan Reeves, so there is some history there.

Potential good news for Chiefs fans as Pat Bowlen may be going Al Davis here. Hiring young coaches, watnting complete control of the players. Next thing you know he'll be the guy telling the QB what to do in the huddle! Go meddling owner, the AFC West just needs one more guy like that in San Diego.

It didn't hurt that they fired their coach after a 14-2 season.

Pioli in as the new GM of the Chiefs. How do you say...bye, bye, Herm. Bye, bye LOSING!!!!

Hopefully he's as good as advertised. Should go a long ways to appeasing the fan base though.

Listening to Between The Lines this afternoon for about 15 minutes, I got that impression from the callers. Rightfully so too. Hunt the younger is showing that he is capable of getting the best available candidate to fill that role. I think it sends a message about the direction the team will go.

UP.

Ferentz is the name that that was most often mentioned today among the KC radio guys. McDaniels would've been the first choice, but the Broncos already nabbed him.

Its definitely exciting to see the dawn of a new era at Arrowhead. Although I am cautiously optimistic. Hopefully Pioli is as advertised and doesn't turn out to be a Belichick puppet like the rest of the personal that have left New England for greener pastures.

Now that the Pioli hiring has finally happened its time to wonder what is going to happen with the rest of the franchise. Obviously Herm will get canned today, I wonder if Pioli will announce his head coach at the press conference this afternoon? What are Thigpin's chances at being the QB next season? What will happen with LJ or TG? Lots of speculation that Pioli will bring Cassell's with him. I certainly hope that isn't the case.

I heard Schwartz the Defensive Co-ordinator from Tennessee was a potential coach. I could live with that. I'd throw Larry Johnson as far away as I possibly could, that guy is poison. "My offseason problems are half my fault". Go fata yourself you selfish jerk, you're 100% responsibile for your off field issues. Talented player who could still play, but you can't win with him. I think T.G. will get traded, it's sad, but the Chiefs still are at least two years away from doing too much and Gonzalez deserves a chance to play on a championship calibre team. Him and Derrick Thomas are the two best Chiefs I had the pleasure of watching.

I wonder if they'll keep Chan Gailey on as OC, I thought he did a decent job adjusting the offence to make Thigpen more effective even if they didn't neccessarily have all the pieces in place to run that offence. Still the Chiefs had a lot of second half leads that they failed to close off, and struggled to keep moving the ball late in games. So that will be interesting to watch.

I think LJ will be gone. Not to sure about TG. Obviously he deserves better, yet the Chiefs could have been a .500 team last season with a better front seven. For the Chiefs to be effective on offense they need Tony Gonzalaz. He is still playing at an elite level and if he sticks with the Chiefs he could go out like John Elway (hey I can dream). Being traded to a so called contender in todays NFL does not necesarily give him a chance at a ring.

You Cheif fans have good reason to be excited and it will be interesting to see what happens with the team now.

I wonder if you guys make a run at Cassel now? If not, Thigpen should stick as he's the most viable option at this point.

I love the off-season, even though it moves at a snail's pace, it's fun to see what happens to teams rosters and front-office. Gives alot of fans reason for optimism or depression!

Cassel will likely if not already be franchised, then traded. Maybe the Chiefs will trade for him who knows (I could see TG traded in that deal if he will take a pay cut). I think hoping for a winning season next year is reasonable, and playoffs next season with hopes for success in playoffs in 3rd or 4th IMO.

I honestly dont know who KC has on the team, as I dont follow them but I think they are going in the right direction know. I would say its 50/50 if Herm is back or not, I like Herm, but who knows with a new President/GM.

I thought you weren't aloud to franchise a player if you have no intention on keeping him.

Maybe I'm just going insane.

I have no idea of that rule, its been reported by Mike Lombardi (good friend of Belichek) as well as confirmed by ESPN's Mort.

He is an insurance policy if Brady (recently engaged) doesnt recover as fast as required. After reaading what Manning went through with a similar injury, I dont think its unreasonable to worry about Brady's speedy recovery.

I think he epitomizes the "system QB".
In any other system he will have issues.

I have thought about that.

I cant see how he could be worse than Flacco or Ryan.

If he goes to a team with a decent running game, I think he could do well. If I was Minn or SanFran I would at least take a look at him.

If he is going to stand there and hand the ball off then I don't think he will be worth what he will undoubtedly get from some team. I hope SF sticks with Hill.

My feelings exactly.
Although if Cassell stayed in NE, he'd probably do well. His success was due to the system and talent around him.

I was thinking Scott Mitchel myself for Cassel... But I do agree with the sentiment that you can't just take him plunk him on any other team and expect him to lead that team to an 11-5 season too. Certainly he has talent and can start for a number of teams in the NFL, and make them better. In the case of the Chiefs, I can't honestly say Matt Cassel with their personell would have faired any better than Tyler Thigpen did. I'd rather keep Thigpen who's two years younger, will be much cheaper and let him prepare as the starter all offseason, get an offence in place for him and see how it goes.
