Protto is right, it should be a badge of honour, but somehow it just isn't when you're there... especially when the clerk is either clearly uncomfortable, or worse, makes a lame comment.
One time at an Extra Foods, the clerk actually winked at me. That sent my confidence back years and years.
The fact that the firmware crapped out not once, but twice within the first week of buying it. By the way, when the firmware craps out on a Zune, one has to format it completely and reload the firmware. After uploading 70+ gigs of music and videos onto it twice, I decided I wasn't going to do it a third time.

hahahaha! I always looked for male cashiers when I went to buy. And always got the box of 25 or whatever. "Big weekend, eh?" one of them remarked. Just nod and smile...

I'll be getting an iPod touch, now.
I've never had the firmware crap out on my Zune.
Oh, and I think you'll have more problems trying to upload your 70+ gigs of music and videos on to an iPod Touch then a Zune.

I've narrowed my "must listen" music and "must watch" videos down to 14 gig, that will leave me two gig free. Everyone I know with a Zune, save one, hates it or has already returned it.
Microsoft is also discontinuing it, at least that's what I gathered from an article I've read.
I think people are confusing the two threads - this one is called "Worst purchase ever" and the other is "Most embarrassing purchase", pretty big difference. I wouldn't think condoms would fit in the worst purchase, but can slightly understand them fitting in most embarrassing.
So back on topic, my worst purchase ever would have to be a 1997 Pontiac Grand Am. Bought it brand new and hated it within a month. What a boring car to drive. If you want the V6 you can't have the manual transmission, so I went with the automatic for the bigger engine. A front wheel drive automatic...yawn. Sold it a year later for a '98 F-150 XLT 4x4, and loved every minute of that truck!
2007 GMC Sierra 2500.. Bought mine for $60000.. You can now buy a 2008 with the same options for $45000ish..
I absolutely hate it when that happens. Its not that bad but I bought a nice leather computer chair for 50 bucks, regular 100. The day after I bought it, the exact chair was priced down to 25 bucks.
Worst purchase..... refurbished gateway laptop from laptop depot. I was very uneducated at the time when it comes to laptop specs and laptops in general, I was looking at a cheaper laptop but the guy convinced me to get this Gateway POS. I think I paid about 1000 for it and eventually sold it 8 months later for less than 500. I have the new macbook now so im Happy.
Why's that? I bought one for my wife and she absolutely loves it.
It's a great concept but the pump on it keeps malfunctioning.
Sometimes it gets so loud that I can hear it vibrating in the next room.
Replacement parts all do the same thing within 3 weeks of installing it. Maybe it's just my unit as a whole...
Might not be my worst purchase ever, but it's the one that first sprang to mind. I bought these leg waxing strips, that advertised being 100% painfree. I gave them a try, I used it one time, one strip. It was horrendously painful, I had a big red mark on my leg for weeks afterwards. It was brutal. I should have known there was no way for wax strips to be painfree.

Your life reminds me of Bridget Jones' Diary.

This post is pretty damn funny (if not disturbing) if you read it without knowing exactly what product you're talking about

Creative Nomad Jukebox. $500, used it for one trip, not even as much as I though I might on that trip and didn't use it too much after that.
$150 Bass Guitar Practice Amp - The sound is so terrible, it's not worth playing.
I have some other things that I payed quite a bit of money for that have been underused, but I wouldn't call them my worst purchases ever. Oh for the days when I had money to spend but didn't invest it in things that would retain their value.
Worst Non-Purchase - not buying a house when I got married in 2004. My wife and I thought these brand new houses were too much at 190,000. Had we known prices were going to go up so much, we could have made something work, and we'd be sitting much prettier now.

A mini bike. A friend of mine got one, and after trying it I decided I needed to have one too. Unfortunately, the novelty wore off about a week after I got the thing, and the few times over the years that I have wanted to use it, it hasn't started. I also have zero motivation to spend any time trying to get it running, so it just sits in my garage.
