Default Mac Users: Firefox or Safari (or Opera, I guess)

Being a recent Mac convert (6 or 7 months ago), I have this question. I've been using Firefox forever on my Windows machines, so it made perfect sense to also use it on my iMac...

Lately, though, as I've gotten more and more comfortable with Mac applications, I've spent more and more time playing around with Safari. Last night, I actually made the change and made Safari my default browser on both of my Macs (I also have a MBP).

I actually quite like Safari now. Are there things about Safari that I just haven't encountered yet that might change my mind?

Firefox still.. I can't live without stuff like mouse gestures, tab mix plus, gmail notifier, foxmarks, ad block plus.

Actually, Ad Block plus is for (Mac) Safari too. That was one of the reasons I kept using Firefox. When I found out about the Safari plugin, that's when I decided to give Safari a shot.

Tab Mix Plus, I'll give you. That was an absolute staple addon for me in Firefox.

I use safari, since i like the multi-touch stuff. Does firefox support it? I've heard people say good things about Camino, but I've never tried it.

Apparently it's like firefox, but looks like safari or something like that

I just can't imagine being without all my Firefox add-ons. I use them constantly.

I've stuck with Firefox simply because it's what I feel more loyal to. I could be easily swayed though. What made you decide to make the switch Fan? What are you finding tips the scale for you?

Well... I noticed that when I was trying to watch videos on Apple's website in Firefox on my MBP, the video would have this white flickering flash thing going on and it was driving me nuts. So I tried the site in Safari and it worked fine.

Then I started going to other sites with Safari and noticed that pages were loading a lot faster, page elements seemed to fit a lot tighter and all the media elements were responding quicker and smoother.

I have a good eye for this stuff. I've been building websites and media for (and supporting) browsers since all the way back to Mosaic and Netscape 1. It's not like I was biased, either... I love Firefox. But I noticed right away how much smoother everything was in Safari.

I didn't switch right away, though, because of all my FF plugins. Once I discovered Ad Block Plus works for Safari too, I started to get serious about giving it a shot. So far, I'm pretty happy with it.

PS: I have no clue why, but I seem to have this weird OCD thing with putting commas everywhere...

Firefox.

Safari is cool, but it's missing features that I've grown accustomed to.

Besides, if you use Safari, you lose all credibility with the cool nerds.

The next version of firefox will support multi touch. For now, I use MultiClutch which lets you define multi touch functions for different apps. That was the one thing I liked about Safari over Firefox.

I'm a Safari user and I find that firefox is a bit too 'busy' for me.

I just looked up tab mix plus, but can't really figure out anything it does that firefox doesn't already do?

My big attraction to it was that it allowed me to put the tab bar at the bottom, which gives you more real estate at eye level.

Omniweb here...It's a great browser. Tabs are visually represented in a drawer along the side of the browser window, and are live updating. You can customize most browser settings on a per-site basis. And you can define workspaces, which are sets of windows and tabs, which is handy too.

Underneath it still uses Webkit (same as Safari) for rendering, so its fast and quite compatible

Oh that's interesting... any problems with plugins, like flash etc?

Me too. I use Firefox only when certain sites don't support Safari.
