A forward, evidently.

Actually I don't have a problem with it. I was just imagining a dinner chat at the Sutter house.

Huh? How do you spell nepotism? A move clearly not based on hockey skills - I guess the General Manager's child needed a plane ride home to Calgary and this is a way for Darryl to expense the cost. Merry Christmas Lundmark, Greentree, Chucko, Peters, Van der Gulik...here's a lump of coal!
Well actually he was already here, near Calgary, for the call up, though I am pretty sure Darryl and the Flames could have paid for the flight. Love those other players you mentioned and so sorry you had no confidence in Sutter cause he sure was a treat to watch on the ice. Very confident, in front of the net, and then the first NHL goal, which he deserved and no, his dad didn't arrange that. He played well in spite of being a 'Sutter" or maybe because he is a Sutter?!

He may hope for the best, but Brett Sutter is a realist. He fully expects the critics to point to his bloodlines and cry nepotism over his appointment to the big club

That's because Brett Sutter must have been reading CalgaryPuck yesterday and seen it all go down, lol.

Seriously though, I've got a couple of courteous replies over the years from a friend or family member of a Calgary prosect who agreed with my suggestions and opinions that their guy really does have a shot at making the Flames. Of the thousands of people associated with our draft picks, I'm sure a few hundred of them must have browsed CP from time to time, it is, after all the #1 Calgary Flames message board out there!

Boy-Brett is a fine youngster, but he is not (yet) the cream of the crop down in Iowa (or Illinois, or wherever it is...)
I think boy-brett had a pretty good play-date with the big boys. Wouldn't you agree?

Brett didn't have as great of a night against Ottawa on Saturday:

7 shifts for 3:03 mins ice time, -1, 2 penalty mins, 1 giveaway

So has he been sent down yet? If you don't trust a player to be out there for more than 3 minutes you should call someone else up. Kind of bizarre though, I thought Keenan would love a player like Sutter. Did he make a stupid mistake before he was benched? I can't remember, and even if he did it's not like it was because of a lack of effort. So I don't know why he wouldn't be given another chance.

he was partially responsible for the Spezza goal with lax play. He got stapled to the bench to teach him a lesson

All in all ... thanks for coming, we're kinda busy but we'll have to schedule you in for another playdate. How does Easter sound, your mom will be waiting and we can hunt for eggs, like old times!
