A quick look at some FCS stadiums for playoff teams show the average is probably around 17 000 people. That's a little different than the Rose Bowl (92 000), Sugar Bowl (73 000), Orange Bowl (77 000), Fiesta Bowl (73 000) in terms of filling the stadium up with travellers.

I don't know where you live or what college you went to but I can guarantee every single playoff game the UT Longhorns are in would sell out. There is no doubt in my mind.

Agreed...and those for every major conference school at the very least.
So now the argument would be that t wouldn't be fair to those schools that go on a run, ala utah this year, because they couldnt go to all games...when those schools will never get a sniff of the NC anyhow? (under the current system)

Don't worry about us folks from Utah. We will be there following the team. Espcially if they have a chance at the NC game.

I need a college team to cheer for. What`s a college near Philadelphia? Penn State? U Penn? Are those teams any good?

No. Cheer for Duke. They're the Detroit Lions of the NCAA.

I thought Duke had a decent NCAAB team. They`re based out of NC anyway -- I`m looking for a geographical proximity to Philadelphia

You're probably looking at Penn State then, unless you don't mind I-A football, in which case you can go for Villanova. Although Rutgets is technically close to Philly as well (Jersey).

Villanova is a perrenial FCS powerhouse and Deleware is usually pretty good too.
BCS division schools in proximity to Philly include Penn St., Pitt, West Virginia.

Why didn’t Utah merit consideration to play for the BCS national title?
Why are the Utes, despite their 13-0 record, victories over four Associated Press top-25 teams and the champions of a conference that went 6-1 in the regular season against the Pac-10, watching one-loss teams Oklahoma and Florida play on Thursday?
Just ask some of the voters in the Harris Interactive Poll, which helps determine the title-game matchup.
“I did not see them play [in the regular season],” Bobby Aillet said.
“I didn’t see any live games,” Lance McIlhenny said. “I just [saw] highlights.”
“I don’t recall if I saw them play specifically during the regular season,” David Housel said. “I don’t remember a specific game.”
Alliet, McIlhenny and Housel aren’t alone. It turns out there were a number of Harris Poll (and presumably coaches’ poll) voters who never saw Utah play this season. At least until the Utes manhandled Alabama in a way that Florida could only dream.

And these guys have jobs? How hard is it in the US to get a satellite and watch any game in America? It's your frickin job.
Everyone on this board has watched Utah play numerous times. And we're just fans!
The BCS itself is a pretty good system. But with deadbeats voting in it, they have lost that right and somehow their has to be an 8 game playoff.

Girly,
I havent watched a single Utah game other than the sugar bowl. I am not interested in mid majors. I watch most of the sec games all of the Gators games acc and the Iowa games since I live here now. But I can care less about 1-a football or mid majors in little power conferances. If Utah played in a big conferance they would have this problem. If they were in the Pac 10 and still undefeated they would of been in the BCSNCG. that just the facts.
I notice on here alot of people are interested in smaller schools. But unless your an alumni or live in the area your really not interested in that school.

So it's you! You're the problem
j/k I understand you point.
I wouldn't watch Utah either but when they beat Michigan and slowly climb up the standings and are in the top 10, some effort should be made to watch them.

They played a shell of what michigan was. If they played them last year it would of been better than this year. That win shouldnt even count.

all i have to say is Mac Brown in an idiot......... a great coach but he needs to keep his mouth shut...... I laughed hysterically after the ohio state game when he said " we know who we beat and we know we are the best team in the nation."
I found it humorous because he said this after beating an Ohio state team that has been called over rated all year ,has a QB that cant complete a pass, Played with them and if not dominated them most of the game, and had to beat them last second. Funny that Texas discredited Techs last second win as a lucky break but when they catch the lucky break then they are the best team in the nation!!!!

What a surprise coming from an OU fan!!! All I have to say, and you can't deny it, is we dominated you guys in the second half of that game. Also they held us in check most of the game I must admit, but McCoy being unusually off target was the biggest reason, hopefully not because he can't handle the pressure (although he was also off target in the 1st half of the Tech game so it has me worried) because I expect us to be in the title game next year. No one on Texas discredited Tech's win if you can find evidence of that I would like to see it. The clear knock against Tech is they got walloped by you guys. As for us being better than you, I'll let the head to head match up do the talking; you can try and apply the transitive property of football to show your superiority.

This has been threatened before and didn't go anywhere. Hopefully multiple states get together and make the push for a playoff. http://www.ksl.com/index.php?nid=294&sid=5245930
Voters even admit they don't watch all of the teams. The current system is a mess. If the polls and BCS are such a great Idea why doesn't the NHL just use power rankings to determine the two teams playing for Lord Stanley's cup?
