I can't say I know all of the fine structure, but if there is an $800 threshold in 1km of a ticket, my guess is you were going so fast that 4X4 would be yelling at you to slow the fata down.

I think this is true. If you dont act defensive and confrontational they are more than likely to give you a break. I know I've missed a couple tickets lately when they realize they can ding me for something minor instead of a ticket where I'd lose demerits. In those cases I was pretty nice and admitted I was speeding and that my registration was expired. Twice I've received a $160 fail to produce registration ticket instead of speeding.

I've never had trouble with the police when they're giving me a ticket. As long as they don't ask if they can look in the trunk. Very bad things happen in the trunk.

50km/h over I suspect.. Something like 130 in an 80 would warrant that..

Just to confirm... you don't agree with cops giving "breaks" but would have wanted one yourself?

Penalties and fines under the Traffic Safety Act. Specified penalties for speeding only go up to 50 km/hr over the posted limit. That'll net you a $351 fine.
Over that? Dunno.
Careless driving ($402) plus 50 km/hr over ($351)?

Over 50km per hour it is now at the judges discretion up to $20,000 I believe. (Not 100% on that max but if I remember right that is what it is).

Did you mean $2,000? That's the limit for provincial offences unless otherwise specified. I don't know of anywhere else where it is specified...

That gets your license taken away here and is a criminal offense. 50km/h over the limit in Ontario is racing.

How 'bout this.... caught going over 50KM/h over the limit, the cop pulls you out of your car and gives you a swift kick in the nads. When you can pick yourself up from the pavement and crawl back into your car, you can go on your merry way.

I'm wracking my brain trying to think of one road inside the CoC where I would be comfortable going 50 over the limit. It's pretty difficult. I suppose maybe Marquis of Lorne between Cranston and Chapparell. But even in a place like that, I'd be too concerned about a massive speeding ticket that going 50 over would be out of the question.
50 over the limit. No fear of cars entering in front of you or cops radaring you. No worries of what's around the bend. Yeah. I'm pretty sure that if you get busted going 50 over the limit your car should be crushed. Maybe even with you inside (which is quite possible when you're going 50 over the limit).

Now... going 50 over on a bike.... that's another story.....
Unless there is a road somewhere around here that has a speed limit of 170KM/h, I think I may have done this... many, many, many moons ago when I was just "young-not-so-smart-fart".

I wouldnt go that fast a bridge like the one between cranston and chapparel.. I've done in excess of 50+ on deerfoot in my mustang when I was a stupid 19 year old.. Not justifying anything, just saying its doable.. Plus how often do you see morons blaze through a 70km/h construction zone doing 120km/h during the night..?
How'd you like to have your car crushed for making a long pass on the highway.. A 60 year old man in Ontario got busted for it, he did 130 in an 80 passing a long line of cars..

There was a story in late summer about the guy (or girl) on a crotch rocket hitting over 200km/h on 22X... right in the middle of the day.
