If the Yellowstone Caldera blew, I'd probably survive long enough to turn around and say "Holy S..."

On a side note: did anyone see "Christmas in Yellowstone" on PBS a couple of weeks ago? That's was a really great Nature show (click some of the vid links)
http://www.pbs.org/wnet/nature/episo...oduction/4292/
Also, it's too bad it's winter, because I bet it makes it hard to monitor the animals. I'd wager that if it were to blow, the packs of wolves and herds of elk, etc would be behaving abnormally, or at least trying their best to get out of Dodge.

Fortunately scientists predict we in Alberta wouldn't feel the effects right away...It may get a little cold for a few years though. I guess this would be natures way of controlling global warming.

Sheesh, Moe wouldn't have to run all that far to avoid massive ash fall.
My hometown would be spared, unlike Mt. St. Helens in 1980.

Here is the link from the closed thread, how long would the planet be in darkness if this were to be a major eruption?
Edit: after watching the The History Channel video, the answer to my question is 6 years.
Quote:
"I am advising all State officials around Yellowstone National Park for a potential State of Emergency. In the last week over 252 earthquakes have been observed by the USGS. We have a 3D view on the movement of magma rising underground. We have all of the pre warning signs of a major eruption from a super volcano. - I want everyone to leave Yellowstone National Park and for 200 miles around the volcano caldera."

And that's obviously either a false statement or one made by someone who has no idea what they are talking about.

I'd rather be in the impact zone than outside of it. To live in supervolcano erupted world is a very slow death for majority of us. If the ash rains don't kill you, then the neverending winters might.
