Why if you are a girl? Is there full frontal male nudity or something? Does Will Smith get naked? Should I be buying my ticket to this one now?

Eww no. But its full of sacharine emotions which is almost (I said almost) as bad as watching Will's willy.

http://www.imdb.com/chart/top

Here's a list of the best of the best (some are rated higher than they should be like the dark knight but it's pretty good)

He does go shirtless in several scenes - not looking as buffed as he was for I Am Legend but surely, this Seven Pounds being something of a melodrama (meaning it likely appeals to a female audience moreso than a male one), I am certain his exposure is no accident nonetheless.

I gave Seven Pounds a plug in the Slumdog Millionaire thread - they are very similar in the theme that they concern a protagonist trying to rise above and find salvation, but Slumdog masquerades as indie and cutting edge while Seven Pounds is more honest about its contrivances. To me, if you're employing certain manipulative devices to drive your movie and engage your audience, I appreciate it more when you don't try to pretend you're not doing it. I actually feel compelled to rank Seven Pounds a little higher just because of this, even though Slumdog is a more well-made film overall.

Smith is really good in this movie, though. He is subtle and convincing and his character has great conflicting pathos that make it difficult to categorically prenounce him the film's 'good guy' - and this is where Seven Pounds is at its best (the on-screen romance between Smith and Rosario Dawson, and a surprisingly effective turn from Woody Harrelson in a small role are its others). I didn't really see the ending as a twist in any way - just the story coming full circle. And yeah, the weight and delivery of the film's message can be heavy-handed but since it isn't pretending to be anything but a conspicuous human-interest, inspirational Hollywood award wannabe, I can't really hold these shortcomings against it. And, I'm kind of a big pu$$y when it comes to film endings sometimes - this one got to me a little.

Not bad - a little melodramatic and weepy.

Woody Harrelson was the best part of the film.

Really looking forward to seeing this.

Gran Torino is the one that has me REALLY excited though. There is Oscar talk for Eastwood's performance...and I'm sure his directing will get consideration too.

Yah its out there on the web... Couple months before Oscar season most of the studios are sending out way more copies of their DVD screeners than they normally would so that they can get reviewed and possibly nominated. I'm not really sure how the process works all I know is that Dec and Jan is great for people that choose to download.

I just saw Valkyrie the other day, and was pleasantly surprised.

Tom Cruise is actually pretty good in it, plus the story is really fascinating (even though you know what happens, its still really interesting seeing how everything played out).

Good acting, moves along at a nice pace, definitely would recommend it.

Watched Charlie Wilson's War on DVD the other night and quite enjoyed it. PS Hoffman was great, as he usually is and Tom Hanks was also very good. Intelligent drama with lots of talking but it flew by.

Gran Torino was okay.

The actors playing the Hmong family....I wasn't sure if they were supposed to not "act" but I thought they were terrible, especially Thao. Either that or they were trying to be "real."

If anyone wants some light comedy, Ghost Town was enjoyable.

Ricky Gervais' wit plus Tea Leoni's beauty = good time.

Just got back from The Curious Case of Benjamin Button. I was actually a bit disappointed; I'll post my thoughts in white so as not to spoil it: It was a good film, but with a lot of flaws; absolutely fantastic early on, but it really suffered from pacing problems, and Brad Pitt and Cate Blanchett, for being such good actors, were surprisingly flat and without chemistry. I thought there was better chemistry between Pitt and Swinton, or with his mother or father, or even the tug-boat captain. There were several moments in the first half of the film, but by the end, I felt fairly 'meh' about what was intended as an emotional ending; I don't feel any lasting sympathy or warmth to either main character. One thing it does fantastically is the illusion of aging; I never questioned that element and bought into that element of the story from the beginning.

I saw Gran Torino last night and I thought it was excellent. It is in keeping with a lot of the same themes that permeate Slumdog Millionaire and Seven Pounds, but explores them better - and it's not without its share of cliche and predictability - and it also reminded me a lot of what Clint Eastwood did in Million Dollar Baby, which won Best Picture, but I felt was a lesser film than this. Eastwood is outstanding in his performance here; I am having trouble now deciding if I would choose this over Sean Penn in Milk (I might have to give the edge to Penn just because it was so refreshing to finally see the SOB smile a little). No one does Cranky Old Badass better than Clint Eastwood, and he effectively channels the same morally confused humanity here as he did in Unforgiven (another movie to which this film can be paralleled in many ways). Some of the reviews I have read for Torino have been mentioning Dirty Harry, which I am ashamed to admit I have never seen - it is now urgent viewing.

Also thought the supporting cast in this was great, and found the friendship that grows between Clint and his neighbor/protege very touching.

"Doubt"
One the best movies I've seen in the last while. Brilliant acting by Meryl Streep and Philip Seymour Hoffman.

Another vote for In Bruges

We rented "Lars and the Real Girl" on New Years, quircky as anything but funny. One of those weird guy in a small town but everybody accepts he's weird movies. Can't tell you much else about it because it would ruin the movie.
