note: regular service will end before you've even rang in the new year.

Good to hear though.

Yeah, and it ends when? The last train is probably before midnight.

The last Southbound train leaves Dalhousie at 1:45am. The rest of the trains in the other directions are likely the same. If you're downtown, you'd want to be at your station by 2 to be safe.

Great to hear. I'm sure many will find a reason to whine about it in some way but it's nice to see them do something.

Yah. Still not what it should be, but better than nothing. And the free fare, while it's only a couple of bucks, just might make the difference for some people. Though I think they do this every year, still definitely a good thing.

Yeah, this is nothing new, but at the same time, Bars dont close until 2:00, they should be offering something after then for the hardcores. They're the ones you have to worry about.

Its always the quiet ones. And the obnoxiously drunk. But after them, its the quiet ones you gotta worry about.

City crapped the bed on this one. Should have extended the service till at least 2 AM. I'm quite sure the greater extended service would have been used and welcomed by party goers. Oh well some service is better than nothing at all.

I know someone in this thread already mentioned that people will likely find something to complain about, and I hate to be that guy, but here's my complaint; They go as far as to extend service til the wee hours, but the thing is, this is THE biggest party night of the year, most people are going to party until they are told to go home. That's going to happen at 2am, but even then it will take time for the bars to empty, and they extended it til 1:45 am? C'mon.

We've had free public transportation on NYE for years here in Ottawa. With the bus drivers strike and the limited number of taxi's, I think it's going to be a very dangerous night to be on the roads.

Lol, maybe we should?

The thing is, potheads don't normally kill anyone.

So you're probably right. We are rewarding the wrong people.

Maybe April 20th should be, 'Free Bag of BBQ Corn Chips' Day.

Yeah, cause potheads driving under the speed limit being extremely cautious is a big risk...

While I think it would be good if transit ran later, at least perhaps if people intend to do the right thing before they go (while still sober) it may entice a few more people to leave their cars at home in the first place.

Their reaction time is greatly decreased though. If there was an emergency situation that required some defensive driving, they might not be able to react in time.

Hell depending on how high the are, they could just plain miss things. Important things.

I have nothing against alcohol or pot, but if you're doing anything, please don't drive.

I wouldn't trust a cokehead behind the wheel either.

I think all fotze was saying is it's kind of ironic that bad behaviour is rewarded even in a roundabout way.

Ugh, I guess I do need to use green text for every sarcastic thing I write. Not even the 3 periods will do...

Although, the last place I would want to be if I was absolutely gacked would be on a crowded bus.

I can see why they don't extend service later after taking advantage of the late train home during stampede. Everytime the train would stop you had to lift up your feet so the puddle of puke didn't slosh into them as the train decelerated.

My favorite was right when the guy originally yacked, my oblivious friend stating "It smells like pizza on here". It smelled like something that was pizza mere moments ago...

Lol sorry, usually I'm pretty good at figuring that out.

I just wondered who or what you were being sarcastic about by making that statement. That's why I didn't think you were.

I guess I was being 'not very serious' rather than sarcastic. Mainly pointing out that I would be more comfortable with someone who is a little high (on weed) driving than someone who is gunned, but trying to illustrate through humour, hence the '...'

If I don't make sense I blame the coffee and Baileys at work.
