All the songs needed to be re-licensed as they were all only purchased for use in 1 game. There was a cost associated with re-licensing and that's what you're paying for.
|
Yeah, I forgot the licensing.

Could I borrow someone's RB1 disc and then pay the $5 online and get all the RB1 songs then? Technically speaking - or is there some sort of serial # or code attached to each unique game?

I believe that was answered earlier in this thread by the xbox folks.
I think one guy even went as far as shipping his rb1 disk to another guy in the US so he could do this.
These aged threads can be pretty nuts. Maybe we should start a RB2 thread specifically for Wii.
To answer you main question though, I dont think there is any security in place to stop someone from lending his RB1 disk out to friends, etc. to bring the songs into RB2. It should work.

for RB1 your can rent/borrow one, no problem. It's only the AC/DC pack that has the specific keys so they can only be transfered once.

Just picked up Rock Band 2 for the Wii!
EB Games finally got their order in. Went in tonight and snagged it.
Anyone looking for RB2 should start hunting now before they are all gone.
Havent had a chance to play it yet, but I think I may end up being up late tonight.

I was stuck in traffic during a trip to the Purolator depot, so decided a quick stop into the Deerfoot Mall Walmart wouldn't hurt.
They had a pallet of RB2 for Wii.

I got three copies of RB2 at Toys R Us Market Mall. HMV also had copies. $50.
Have fun getting in and out of that parking lot today.

RB 1 on the wii was so horribly gimped that it really shouldn't have been released at all imo. I was glad to hear RB2 for the wii was actually given the proper attention.

As much as I drum my fingers when listening to music, you would think I could drum in RB2.
Apparently the skills are not directly correlated.

Agreed 100%. Huge improvement over RB1.
On par with Xbox and PS3 now.
No more Rock Band envy for me.

Is there any difference between the instruments for RB1 and RB2? Or just the game itself? The reason I ask is because I purchased RB1 for my sister this week for only $100 (versus RB2 for $190), but I also have the option of buying RB2 (game only) for only $50 more. Otherwise, the only difference I know of is that RB2 has a wireless "upgraded" drum set and wireless microphone...
