Sometimes the things that look fun or pretty in the window really suck when you take them out to play with them or try them on...

Oh there you go being all sensible - haven't you heard that humor is bad things happening to other people?
I'm going to do all the contests I can right now, just because it's late, I'm bored and it's too cold to go anywhere and do anything:
1. Ten Word Story
She died alone, and years later he'd forgotten her name.
2. Best Pickup Line
"Hello, my name is <your name here> and I was wondering if I could sit with you and just talk?"
3. Best diss of an Oilers fan
"Looking back 10 years from now, are you going to be happy thinking of these as 'the Stortini years'?"
4. Flames Haiku
the ice sculpts the child
with weary days and journeys
to join kings of fire
5. Original Joke
A Canadiens fan, Canucks fan, Oilers fan, and Leafs fan have survived a plane crash up in the Andes, and as there is not enough food, they have decided that one of them must die so the others can divide his body up and live until they are rescued. So each of them has to come up with a reason why he shouldn't be the one to die, and the Oilers fan starts out:
"With Kevin Lowe finally kicked upstairs, the Oilers will sign all the good free agents next summer, then we'll make the playoffs and win the Cup! That hasn't happened since 1990! I couldn't possibly miss that!"
The other three look at each other and roll their eyes, but now it's the Canucks fan's turn:
"I can't die because now that we've signed Sundin, we're gonna win our first Cup! Ever! I couldn't possibly miss that!"
There are groans this time from the other three guys, and then the Canadiens fan says:
"Well, I can't die either - the Canadiens are looking good this year, Koivu is finally going to play an entire year without getting injured, Tanguay and Kovalev are going to play with passion, and we are going to win the Cup for the first time since 1993! I couldn't possibly miss that! "
Again it's three guys rolling their eyes, and then the Leafs fan speaks out:
"It can't be me - the Leafs haven't won the Cup since 1967, and now that we have Brian Burke as our GM we're gonna make some trades, fix the offence, fix the defence, fix the goaltending, and finally do it again! I couldn't possibly miss that!"
The other three look at each other, nod, then leap upon the Leafs fan, and he is messily devoured.
Afterwards the Canadiens fan sits back, picking his teeth, and says, "We sure saved THAT guy a world of disappointment, eh?"

The problem is that the contest was for the best contest idea. I appreciate all your entries, but the contest using the best contest idea was for the next game, at a date to be determined. Lol.

Yah I KNOW but I'm positioning myself for the next contest after this contest - so if you pick, for example, best joke as the new contest, I'll have a built-in advantage by having gone first.
That's the kind of dedication and attention to detail that catapults me into the stratosphere of contestants - sure, you could go to a game with some pretty-boy eye candy lightweight, but does that have the undeniable cachet of being seen in the soft ice-cream line getting a chocolate-vanilla swirl with 6 feet 3 inches of Bertuzzi-bashing cool? Surely not!

Gentlemen, gentlemen - I'm thinking all those who want to go to a game should be looking into picking a home Flames date somewhere in Feb-Mar and then seeing how many tickets we can get in the same section, so that everyone can be a lucky winnar! Then we invite Firefly as payback for offering out her tickets, and everybody's happy. Well, maybe just content, but that'll do.

I should say that im a STH, but my seats are in the 300's...
so a chance to upgrade to a lower bowl, and meet one of (what I would have thought before the show your mug thread) the rare female posters

so heres the deal, IF I happen to "win", what I'll do is give my two seats to the runner up (provided it goes to a poll, if not, then I guess a runner up of firefly's choosing), plus Ill tack on troutmans idea of take me to a game, and Ill take you to a game
win-win-freaking win!
|
this would stand for any game as well, Im all for "lower bowl" seats
meeting other CPers is just a bonus

That's actually a cool idea. It would be great if we could organize a CP social event at a game. I know a lot of people on here are STH, but I'm sure we could probably get a group on 20 or so together.

I think whoever FireFly picks, said date-for-the-night owes her at least dinner or drinks after the game.

an attractive girl waving free hockey tickets in front of a large group of internet hockey nerds? she could ask to take a hit out on someone and i'm pretty sure there'd be a few takers

even though it would seem that contest submissions have been closed, I was sitting here watching HNiC and thought that another fun contest might be a "flames scavenger hunt"
compose a list of things for ppl to take/post pictures of. The person that can post pictures of the most items, wins.
It would be possible to post internet pictures to try to win as well, but bonus points would be given to ppl that are able to take their own pictures, and can be verified by taking a picture with a piece of paper with CP user name on it and the date or something
I would suggest using something obscure things like say a game worn Roman Rozaokv jersey
