I was wondering if I can connect an HDMI from the blu ray to the tv , and then audio through the amp? Or when you use HDMI does it overwrite any other sound connection (if that makes sense)?
This would be an annoying setup if it worked but I don't know if I'm too excited about buying a new amp.

Yes, you can do that, although you may get better audio through the HDMI connector, depending on the capabilities of your amplifier.
You can also buy an HDMI component switcher from Monoprice for about $30-$40.
What are your two other HDMI devices? Does your amp have component video as well? I think I would give priority to the BluRay and connect one of yoru other devices via component video and optical audio.
