So I am 99.9% sure I am getting a new Macbook (The new aluminum model) for Christmas. I currently have dual monitors on my current tower PC.
What I want is to use both monitors for the Macbook. I have done some research and I have come up with this:
1) I will need the Mini-DVI to VGA cable that apple sells. (not a problem)
2) I will need a external converter to support both monitors.
So I went online and ordered the Matrox DualHead2Go (
http://www.matrox.com/graphics/en/products/gxm/dh2go/) and I am getting mixed feeling on if this will work.
I know I might get people "Its a laptop, just use the screen provided" but I plan on getting rid of my PC completely and use this as my main computer. I want to have the convenience of working with 2 monitors at home and then just simply disconnect the monitor (mini DVI port), the speakers, and the power.
The thing that I am worried about is it seems that this will just extend my desktop and I will technically have 3 displays (2 monitors and the laptop display) which is not what I want. The way my desk is set up is I have room for the laptop to sit under my monitors stands that would fit perfectly kind of like a docking stations would be. So do you think this set up would if I simply just close the laptop and it will adjust to only use 2 monitors? Any recommendations would be good as well (except smart ass windows lovers simply saying "Don't get a Mac")
