WTB- Laptop RAM (PC2700 or 2100)

Thought I would put this out to the vastness of CP before heading down to Memory Express.

Recently bought a laptop, and I'm looking to boost the RAM in it before giving it to my future brother in law.

What I need is either a 1GB or 1-2 512 MB sticks of DDR PC2700 Laptop memory. It is for a Dell Latitude D600 in case anybody is curious.

Can be an exchange of cash, or computer parts (anybody need a 21" CRT)

I've got a few sticks of 512MB PC2-5300, not sure if thats compatible with your laptop. Let me know, its just sitting here.

Wow, a 21" CRT? That must be a big honking mofo . Who makes it? Is the screen flat?

I will check my stash. I have some from my Dell Inspiron 1501, but I can't recall the type.

Yes, it is PC RAM, not PC2 that I need.

As for the monitor; yes it is a big mofo, but pretty sweet picture. It is "Dell" branded, but also bears the Trinitron symbol indicating it is a Sony tube. It is a flat screen- so no curve in the tube. Monitor also has dual inputs; I've found that handy when working on one PC and surfing CP on the other.

Just because Kingston mentions the D600 can take DDR266 (PC2100) or DDR333 (PC2700).

And Laptop Ram are in a form factor called SODIMM

I assume you know about this but if you dont, http://www.crucial.com/ has a scanner that will let you know for sure what RAM you need.

Figured since at least one of us is mistaken it doesn't hurt to be sure.

Yes, it is a D600. I was just looking up the RAM as quick as I could- didn't even notice it said that was for a 9100.

And yes, it can take the slower RAM as well. So if anybody has any DDR266 (PC2100) kicking around- I might be able to make use of that too. My original plan was this; I now have two D600s each running 512MB of RAM. I was thinking if I bought a 1 GB stick I could put that into one laptop, and use the two 512 MB sticks in the other. Of course last night when I took a closer look it would seem the one laptop contains PC2100 and the other contains PC2700.

I know- I should probably just get off my wallet and head down to Memory Express. I'll also check out your link Rathji.

Sorry, I've been a bit busy and haven't have time to scrounge around, it's a really small part but I'm sure I have a 512MB stick or two in a drawer or somewhere. I'm not sure if I'll be able to find them. If you need it soon, don't hesitate to goto memex.

Yeah, it isn't absolutely urgent- by New Years for sure. I just figured I'd ask here; partially because I'm a cheap SOB, and also to see if anybody had something that was just taking up space that they would want to sell before it's value hits zero.

It's funny, digging through my own piles of RAM I have found EDO SIMMs, and even some of the 30 pin RAM.

Just thought I'd give this a final bump- hopefully some of you that are like me and have a "drawer full o' RAM" have had a chance to look through it during the Christmas break.

Just to clarify- I have a couple of options that are available to me now, so any of the following would be helpful:

PC2100 512MB
PC2100 1GB
PC2700 512MB
PC2700 1GB.

Edit: Yup, I have have 2 x 512 MB PC2700 200-pin SO-DIMM sitting around... is that what you're looking for?

Not sure if they work... but you're welcome to try them out first.
