I wasn't so much replying to your earlier comment as I was making a new comment. The reason I quoted you was because I wanted to preface my comment by saying that I'm a granny driver on fast roads during poor conditions because I'm anal about my ride.

I feel the need to complain about people who don't know how to turn left, as apparently this relatively simple procedure has become an esoteric art unknown to the vast majority of drivers - ya gotta GET INTO THE INTERSECTION DUMBASS so when the light goes yellow, at least one car makes it thru the light. Traffic speeds are bad enough without some yahoo in front of me who is so timid he probably apologizes to the gas pedal when he tromps it too hard.

I almost ran over this courier today, he was in the curb lane trying to get his bike going and he fell right over and off it, and partway into my lane because he was pointed mostly sideways instead of forward as he tried to get traction. Luckily I was kind of thinking he might wipe out, and had already slowed up to pass him, and thus could stop. Personally I think riding a bike on the road in this kind of weather is asking to get seriously injured - there is just not enough surface touching the road on a bike to ride safely no matter how good you are.

My personal favorite are the tards with their crappy Jeep TJ that go speeding around thinking they actually have some sort of all-terrain vehicle or something (in reality they have a $15,000 piece of garbage).

Another is the morons driving bikes. Bike couriers are morons to begin with (had one who was still drunk bike right into the back of my car last year), but driving bikes in snow must require some sort of degree from Capital Health (psych ward) in Edmonton.

Saw a biker today take a face first plunge and almost get ran over on 5th avenue, and basically plow into a pedestrian. Biked right into the deep snow at the curbs( Corner of 5th avenue and 1st St. SW). What a moron.

Having bumper stickers that read “Jesus lives” or “Jesus Saves” or “God hates Calgary drivers too” is not going to make you holier than thou. Some extremists here have even hand painted religious rhetoric on their vehicles, probably in the false belief that God will spare their Volkswagon, their vegetables, fuzzy dice and yellow Crocs simply because he appreciated the fact that they visited Paint Your World.

For the person going 30kph on John Laurie last Sunday, f*** you.

Oh yeah, and why don't people stay at home when the weather is like this, because going 40 under the speed limit doesn't making it safer out there.

Because I beat you suckers stuck in traffic home by about an hour. And I don't show up hours late for work like my co-workers. And I didn't pay $25 for parking. And I laugh at gloomy traffic reports while you cringe.

And when your head and torso get made into a permanent fixture into the pavement I will have no sympathy for you.

Keep your sympathy regardless - I can do without it. Clearly you have neither the ability or idea how to ride a bike on anything other than flat bare pavement.

What's your problem anyways with bikers - it's not like we're trying to convince you to ride. Mad I passed you in traffic?

I have good friend who bikes to work also. He enjoys the fresh air and exercise - not to mention the savings in parking and vehicle related costs.

My problem is you can't control a bike in the snow and you become a nuisance. Should be made illegal. I shouldn't have to spend the rest of my life with flash backs of killing some idiot that doesn't have the common sense to realize that biking in snow drifts is not safe.

The weather forecast is predicting another 5 cm of snow for tomorrow. It will be another brutal day for traffic. But at least we can take comfort in the fact that pretty much the whole NA continent is getting slammed at this point.

Meanwhile, in Ontario, they are getting prepared for "Snowmageddon." Apparently there is some huge storm moving in from the US midwest and it will hit on the weekend.

Some guy almost made me late for my finals this morning. Didn't have winter tires so they were only going about 10km/h, only one lane, it was very frustrating.

By the way, I love my Integra, it's got way less power than the TL, which means it doesn't melt snow everywhere you go.

Actually you can with the right riding abilities and knowledge of icy roads. It's not that different from driving. If your car goes through it so can I - it's all about the right speed and picking the right lines. Fresh snow is actually the best stuff to ride in - Monday was actually terrific to ride in. Given the City encourages it by plowing and sanding the pathways it's far from being illegal but actually encouraged.

But hey, it's all about you....
