Default Monitor issue

Samsung SyncMaster 225 BW, 22"

When you go to power on the monitor, press the power button, you see the screen only quickly then it goes to black. Press the power button again to turn it off then back on again, the longer the monitor has been off for the more times I have to repeat this to get it to stay on. I took it in where I bought it and of course they couldn't get it to do this. Typical. Anyone heard of this? Should I just write to Samsung instead?

The 0.3w expended is why I don't turn off the monitor. If it is in your bedroom, then a suggestion would be to block the led light from your vision. You may still have bleed through, but, at the very least the harsh blue of the led won't be blinking while you sleep making you think of rain soaked streets and roy batty going "I've seen things you people wouldn't believe. Attack ships on fire off the shoulder of Orion. I watched C-beams glitter in the dark near the Tannhauser gate. All those moments will be lost in time... like tears in rain..."

Otherwise, the other question would be, is your system on when you power the monitor up and it displays the startup for you? Maybe change over to the other cable if it isn't dvi(if possible)

Loose connection with the power cord? those NEMA5-15P connectors are sometimes hard to tell if you have it in all the way.

Does the monitor sleep properly and come back on?

Other things, like is whatever system you have up and running already on? The power saving circuitry in the samsung's that I've seen have been pretty aggressive in turning themselves off when they don't have a signal to display.

It actually doesn't bother me. I'm not sure if that's a good thing or not, lol.

I've tried turning the cpu on first and vice-versa, makes no difference. I don't have another cable although I know there is another spot for a different one.

I've checked it, it should be okay.

I have it set to turn off after 10 minutes. If I understand what you mean by sleep, it will turn off and the led will blink? It doesn't make a difference as whether I turn it off manually or it shuts itself off, it still makes me power on and off again and again to get it to stay on. It does seem to be that the longer the monitor has been off, the longer it takes to get it going again. The problem seems to be gradually getting worse as now when it shuts itself off I have to power on and off a time or two to get it going whereas when this started occuring it would come back on the first time.

Sometimes yes, sometimes no.

Thank you for your help.

i had a problem with an lcd monitor i ordered a while back. after working the first few days, it wouldn't turn on. when i turned it on, the picture would be there for a second or two, then go black. the power light would indicate it had no signal and then it would go to sleep. i sent it back and they replaced the power supply in the monitor. apparently it was on the fritz. maybe you have a similar problem?

Get it returned or exchanged if you can. I've seen this on Dell monitors. The problem can get worse. It can be anything from the power button being faulty to an overheating transistor (which will eventually fail) or dying backlight inverter. I would try to get rid of it and get a new one before it dies on you because it likely will.

Sounds like a backlight issue, I had a similar issue on a Samsung monitor, a 940B.
